| Some Descendants of Mathias GebhardJacob Gabbard was one of my fourth great grandfathers. He was born in North Carolina about 1762, died in Madison County, Kentucky, 1854. The story of my Gabbard family begins quite far back, about 1575 in Germany, and the surname has had several transformations. All of the information on the early generations in Germany came from the Gabbard/Gabbert Family Newsletter. The articles were reprinted from a privately published book on the family - a German genealogist did much of the original research. Other researchers have subsequently visited some of the villages in Germany, examined some of these records onsite, and there's every reason to believe the data is accurate. My personal research has centered on my own direct Gabbard line after they arrived in Pennsylvania.
