Fifth Generation

58. William FLYNN was born on 9 October 1797 in North Carolina. He died on 16 August 1867 at the age of 69 in Lawrence County, Indiana.

Databases online show William as born 9 Oct 1797 in Surrey Co NC, died 16 Aug 1867 in Lawrence Co. He married Ann Williams, daughter of Isaac Williams, 5 Oct 1815, in Indiana. Ann appears to have died before 1832.

Children that were probably Ann's were:
George Washington Flinn, b. 6 Nov 1817
Sarah Flinn, b. 25 Dec 1819
Burrel M. Flinn, b. 8 Feb 1822
Rebecca Jane Flinn, b. 7 Jul 1824
Joseph R. Flinn, b. 10 Jul 1826
Mary Ann Flinn, b. 20 Oct 1828
Lucinda Charlotte Flinn, b. 23 Nov 1830.

A William Flinn married North America Tatum on 8 Oct 1832, Lawrence Co, IN.

1850 Census. Flinn Township, Lawrence Co IN, Hh 1433
William Flinn, age 52, b. NC
America, age 50, b. VA
Children all born in Indiana: Emily 18, Elizabeth 16, Isaac 14, Malinda 10, and John W. age 9.

Exact birth dates are given for Elizabeth, 28 Jan 1835, Isaac, 25 Feb 1837, Malinda 15 Jan 1840, and John Wesley, b. 31 Mar 1842.
Emily is not given a birth date - was she a daughter of America's? If not, her mother may have died when she was born.

William is buried PinHook Cemetery, Lawrence Co. America does not appear there. Emily and Malinda Flinn are also buried there with their respective Speer husbands, and they are both said to be daughters of William and Annice. That seems to be an error, based on the marriage record and the 1850 census. Annice is shown as having died in 1872, which is even more puzzling.

William FLYNN and Annice WILLIAMS were married on 5 October 1815 in Indiana. Annice WILLIAMS, daughter of Isaac WILLIAMS and Sarah "Sally" GUTHRIE, was born on 25 October 1799.

William FLYNN and Annice WILLIAMS had the following children:

Emily FLYNN.

Malinda FLYNN.
