FAR FLUNG FLINNS has identified this Laughlin as the wrong man. They have him as a son of Thomas, but he was instead a Laughlin Jr. son of Laughlin & Elizabeth Wright. Since the book has also placed Elizabeth Wright with the wrong husband, this is not too surprising. [p.164]

Laughlin is believed to be the man in the 1830 census in Henry Co TN, age 40-50. His name also appears in the court records there. In Aug of 1827, he purchased a cow & calf at an estate sale. On 21 Sep 1828, Laughlin Flin was a subscribing witness to the will of Mark Donan. At the December Term of court, 1835, he was allowed $60 for his support; later the same day King Henry Caplinger was allowed $10 for keeping Laughlin Flin. He is not found after that date.
Laughlin is thought perhaps to have married the widow of his brother-in-law John Guymon - Mary "Polly" Wright after the deaths of his wife Anna and her brother John Guymon. A letter from a son states that his mother [Polly Wright Guyman] died, he & his brothers were bound out, and their Flinn stepfather died not long after.
