Thomas and family moved to Sunderland VT, in the fall of 1774. He commanded a company from Sunderland and was killed at the battle of Bennington, 16 Aug 1777.
Online can be found an interesting tale about how Thomas died. Barefooted at the time, he is said to have killed A Hessian to get his shoes. The shoes were too small. He succeeded in killing another Hessian, but was shot and killed himself while getting the shoes from the body.
The Battle of Bennington took place at Walloomsac, NY, about 10 miles from Bennington, VT. It was a victory for the Revolutionary cause.
