882. William Baker COMSTOCK292,324 was born on 14 October 1842 in Port Huron, St. Clair County, Michigan. He died on 7 February 1905 at the age of 62 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.

William was a lumberman, timber jobber and contractor. Shortly after 1862 he left home and sailed for about two years on the great lakes. In 1864, he joined his brother Andrew in Alpena, MI where they engaged in the lumber business under the name of Bewick, Comstock & Co. In 1871 they established a bank - the Alpena Banking Company.
