1436. Charles Carnice COMSTOCK508,509 was born on 17 December 1888 in Rosedale, Crawford County, Arkansas.9,364,440 He died in February 1982 at the age of 93 in Muldrow, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma.419

1900 Census says born in Nov 1889.

Charles "Carnice" Comstock registered for the World War I draft in Crawford Co AR, 5 Jun 1917. He stated he was born in Odell, AR. He was a coppersmith helper for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He had at that time a wife and two children and claimed exemption because of them. He was described as tall, slender, with blue eyes and brown hair.

[In the 1920 Census, I think Charlie is listed unexplainably as JOHN Comstock, age 31, a coppersmith for the Railroad. He is married to Pansy, age 33. Household also includes Pansy, Jr. age 7 and Hazel, age 2 11/12. This doesn't quite work out with the dates of his marriages. Seems unlikely that Pansy could be the child of the first wife Pearl, but she could be Pansy Loveland's daughter by an earlier marriage. The whole situation would be different if he was perhaps not ever married to Pearl Tatum or she died/divorced immediately after that marriage. Or maybe there IS a JOHN Comstock, not yet identified that was married to Pansy and had these two daughters - a completely different person.]

Marriage license issued in Sebastian Co to Charles C. Comstock of Fort Smith, age 30 and Pansy Loveland of Van Buren, age 30, 24 Feb 1919. The were married on the same day by W. B. Miller.

Marriage license issued in Sebatian Co to C. C. Comstock, age 38, and Sarah Catcher Crookenhead, age 34. on 3 May 1927. J. A. Parker married them on May 4th, 1927.

I found daughter Hazel, living with an aunt and uncle in Sand Springs, OK in 1930, but I've not been able to find Charles.

The Fourth Registration of the Draft for World War II conducted 27 Apr 1942, was sometimes referred to as the "old men's registration" as it was for men born between 28 Apr 1877 and 16 Feb 1897, men between 45 and 64 years old. Charles registered and spelled his name as "Charles Carnice Comstock". Other Comstock records have spelled it "Cornice". The expected date and place of birth was given. He was living in Uniontown, no specific address given. The "Person Who Will Always Know Your Address" was H. M. Campbell of Uniontown. This appears to have perhaps been his employer in Uniontown. His description: Height; 6' 3", Weight; 164 lbs, Gray eyes, Gray hair, Light complexion. He had a scar on his right arm. His signature is on the card.
