13. John Samuel BROWN^1,59 was born on 25 June 1831 in St. Francois County, Missouri.^60,61,62 He died on 28 January 1908 at the age of 76 in Grayson County, Texas.^1,16,17

The article about William Brown says they were of Newton County, but I think the Davidsons were in McDonald County by the time of the marriage.

In 1850, John is part of the household of William & Elizabeth Brown. In 1860, he is married, wife named Mary with a baby daughter. In 1850 there is another boy, William M. Warren, age 13, who must be a grandson of William & Elizabeth; by 1860 he is also married with a baby daughter.
According to the Brown article, John first went to California for the Gold Rush; then returned to marry Polly.

He enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862 and had the ends of two fingers shot off. He returned home and they left for Texas. Letsey is said to have died by the side of the road on the way to Texas and her death is listed as 1863.
They settled in the Pink Hill Community of Grayson County near the present Antioch Baptist Church.

By 1880, Sarah was married but living near her parents. She's said to have married Jefferson Davis but he was listed as Joseph, age 24, b. in TX. Sarah, 19.

John Samuel BROWN and Mary "Polly" DAVIDSON were married on 22 July 1858 in Missouri.¹ Mary "Polly" DAVIDSON⁶³, daughter of Levi DAVIDSON and Sarah LAMBERSON, was born on 30 December 1841 in Tennessee.^10,61 She died on 5 March 1934 at the age of 92 in Grayson County, Texas.^1,10,17 Buried Washburn Cemetery, near Bells, Grayson Co TX
Her obituary states that she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Hogan. Services were held at the Pink Hill Baptist Church. Children still living were: William, Frank, George, Cam, John Cecil, Isabel, Nancy, and Safronia. Survivors included 49 grandchildren, 39 great grand child and one sister living in Missouri.

At the time of her 90th Birthday, Mary Brown was the oldest member of the Baptist Church at Pink Hill, called Antioch in the early days. She lived with son Frank in her later years.
