178. Cornelia COMSTOCK^83,94 was born on 29 June 1875 in Arkansas.³⁴ She died on 12 March 1893 at the age of 17 in Crawford County, Arkansas.^83,134,153

John M. Mills, age 17, married Cordelia Comstock, age 14 on 16 Jul 1889. J. H. Branson, JP. License was issued 15 Jul 1889.

I have found her name as both Cordelia and Cornelia.

According to Homer Marshall of Uniontown, Cornelia and Mort were breaking a horse to ride and she was kicked in the head and died.
Buried in the Comstock Cemetery (age 17). Her husband is buried in the larger adjoining cemetery, next to Alice (Morton) Mills who was his mother.

There is a note in the manuscript file of John A. Comstock, that Cornelia's residence was Muscogee. This seems unlikely - perhaps her husband moved there for a time, but both are buried there in Crawford Co, AR. The place of residence was not in the book, so maybe J.A. Comstock also suspected this was an error.

Cornelia COMSTOCK and John Morton "Mort" MILLS were married on 16 July 1889 in Crawford County, Arkansas.^34,145,154 John Morton "Mort" MILLS, son of John Buchanan MILLS and Alice F. MORTON, was born on 25 October 1871.¹³⁴ He died on 17 August 1900 at the age of 28.¹⁰³

"Morton was widowed young and left with a small son, Omar Mills. At age 22, he met and married Fannie Nolan on 7 Jan 1894 and had 3 children: Irene, Roy, and John."
"..and his family made their home in Uniontown, until Aug. 17, 1900, when he was ambushed by a man while riding his horse in the woods between Lee Creek and Uniontown. Morton died in the woods from the bullets of a left handed sharp shooter. Later a man by the name of Mr. Truitt was arrested and jailed."
