45. SARAH ANN "SALLY" GABBARD was born in 1825 in Madison County, Kentucky.⁵¹

SARAH ANN "SALLY" GABBARD and NATHANIEL HARRISON were married on 20 February 1845 in Madison County, Kentucky.^52,53 NATHANIEL HARRISON^28,31,54, son of ELISHA HARRISON and IFFA BAKER, was born in 1825 in Madison County, Kentucky.^51,52 He died on 19 September 1880 at the age of 55 in Schuyler County, Illinois.⁵⁵

1850 Madison Co KY Census: p.240, Household 587. Nathaniel Harrison age 25, born Madison Co. Sally A. age 25. Nancy age 4. Elizabeth age 2. Next door at #588 is Edward Gabbard age 51, wife Sally 50, Margaret 16, and Jane 14. John W. Gabbard is at #589, age 30, Alethy also 30, with 9 children (including a Jacob, Sally, Edward) and Jacob Gabbard age 80. On p.239, #574 is Jacob Gabbard, age 25, Mahaly age 26, Mary age 3, Nancy age 2, and Edward age 1.

Family is in 1860 & 1870 Census, Schuyler Co IL, Buena Vista Twp. Based on the birthplaces of the children as given, the family moved between the births of Amanda in 1857 and birth of Susan in 1860.

1861 Military Census, Buena Vista Twp. Complete list of all able bodied male citizens in Schuyler county between the ages of 18 - 45 years subject to military duty. Included Nathan Harrison.

There was an 1865 State Census in Illinois and Nathan Harrison was counted. In his household were 2 males and 3 females under age 10; 1 male and 2 females age 10-20; 1 male and 1 female age 40-50. total of 4 males, 6 females.

1880 Census. Nathan Harrison, age 56, b. KY, father b. VA, mother b. KY. Sarah, wife, age 54, b. KY as were both her parents. John, age 26, Jane 24, both born in KY. The rest of the children born in IL. Amanda 21, Jacob 18, Charity 10, and William 6.

From the "Rushville Times" of Sep 24 1880. Mr Nathan Harrison, an old citizen of Buenavista township, died on Sunday of inflamation of the bowels; aged 56 years.

Other Harrisons in Madison Co in 1850 include on p.235 #520 John B. Harrison age 43, Sally age 33, Shelton age 17, Elisha age 15, Elizabeth age 13, Lafayette age 12, Ellen ?Ann age 10, Nancy age 8, Hannah age 4, Margaret age 2; and p.238, #558 is George Harrison, age 41, Rachel age 37, Isaac age 18, Nancy age 13, John B. age 11, J?? , male age 7, Elisha age 5, and Minerva age 1.

In 1840 Madison Co KY Census Index there is also a George and a John B. Harrison as well as Edward Gabbard. In 1830, Elijah Harrison is found; in 1820 Elisha & Frederick Harrison.

Maryland as were both his parents. Richard, his father, and the baby are listed as "mu" for mulatto or mixed blood. A William Scott on the same page was also listed as "mu". Elizabeth was "W" for white. Instructions to the enumerators were to record the race as they saw it - this was not a question answered by the household. I checked back in 1870. ELISHA SHELTON HARRISON59,60,61,62,63 was born on 20 October 1850 in Madison County, Kentucky.31,52,61,62,64 He died on 3 September 1929 at the age of 78 in Crawford County, Arkansas.62 License issued same date as Marriage - 13 Jan 1876. Married by Cornelius Mills, MG. Return 19 Jan 1876. His death certificate stated he was born in 1855, and was age 73. This does not agree with information given for the census records. The death certificate has several errors. 1880 Census. Elisha Harrison, age 30 [b. circa 1850], b. KY; didn't know where his parents were born but maybe he didn't give the information. Edith, wife age 24, b. IL, parents b. Ohio. Clarence, son, age 3, May, age 2, and Jessie, daughter, age 1. The family must have left for Arkansas soon after the birth of Edwin whose birth was recorded in Schuyler Co in Sep of 1886; later census information says Maudie was born in 1888 in Arkansas. In 1900, Edith stated she had 10 living children Nine of the children are here - one of her twins had died. The child Maudie born in Feb of 1888 is the first child born in Arkansas - Edwin was born in Sep of 1886 in Illinois. There is another daughter as 3 sisters were listed in the obit of Mary Adamson: Maud Sheens, Mrs. Charles Friddle of Fayetteville (given name "Mary" but I think it should have read Margaret] and Mrs. Ned Robinson of Van Buren (1929). Further research indicates the missing daughter in 1900 was likely Nettie already married to Joe Robinson & living in Winfrey Township not far from her uncle Jacob Gabbard. The 1910 Census shows Edwin is a son, as is Frederick. Also in 1910 in Dyer Twp is W. L. Harrison age 36, born in IN with wife Annie and children Mary and Hershel - but he is not likely part of the family based on his age & place of birth. Or is he a cousin? The 1920 Crawford Co Census reveals more about the children for Elisha and Edith. Edwin Harrison, age 35, born Illinois, Father born in Kentucky, Mother born in Illionis. Nelson Harrison, age 34, born Illinois, Father born in KY, Mother born in IL. All found in Chester Township. Elisha's middle name is from his death certificate. Clarence gave the information and gave Elisha's parents as John Harrison & Lizzie Gabert! "Lizzie" was probably Clarence's maternal grandmother - have no clue where the "John" might have come from. Date of birth 20 Oct 1855 and date of death 3 Sep 1929. This year of birth does not agree with any of the census records which are all consistent with a year of birth as 1850. I don't believe Clarence was very well informed concerning the family statistics! Elisha died of diabetes. Buried in Chester, AR. If you wish to follow the descendants of Elisha S. NY, parents b. England 1930 Census. Rushville, Schuyler Co, IL Hh 44 John Harrison, age 73. He was 45 when first married. Born KY as were his parents. House carpenter Sofia, age 68. Was 40 when first married. Born NY; her parents born in England. John is buried Palm Cemetery, Rushville, Schuyler Co. FindAGrave states that his wife was Sophia Riggal Swisher.

+116	vii.	Anna Susan HARRISON56 was born in 1860 in Illinois.31,54,65 Anna Susan was 2/12 at time of 1860 Census, born in Kentucky, but the 1870 Census says born in Illinois. I do believe she was the first child born in IL - they likely moved circa 1859. Her middle name is also found as Louisa and Sonia - see the birth entries below. She was not in the 1880 census with the rest of the family; however, she was old enough to be married by then. Marriage to John E. Icenogle on 13 May 1877. Schuyler Co Marriage Book C, p.107. A John E. Isenogal is found in the 1860 Census, already 15 years old. Living with what appears to be his father, William, siblings, and perhaps his grandmother, Matilda Isenogal. Mother has apparently recently died as there is a 1 year old girl. None of the family aged between 1910 and 1920 - the youngest, twins, are even younger than in 1910. Not even the married sons aged - their wives ages are wrong. C., son, age 3 months After discovering the bizarre situation above and looking at 1930, I looked back in 1920 for daughter Charity who had married Charles Jones, to see what their ages were. I did find them in Cane Hill, Hh 204 Charles Jones was age 30, a miller at the saw mill, b. Kansas Charity was 29, b. AR [so she had aged appropriately] Ed, son, was age 4. By 1930, a couple of databases online [which had very little about the family] did indicate that both John and Anna had died in the late 1920's. By 1930, all the daughters would likely have married.
