According to H. A. Beckwith's "History of Vigo and Part Counties", Henry also fought in the War of 1812 - but he would have been only 15 years old. Probably meant Peter's brother Nathaniel instead? Beckwith also says he was a sheriff of Vigo Co which is reflected in the Court Records. His uncle Nathaniel was a sheriff back in Ontario Co NY.

Henry Cromwell ALLEN and Zelota CARGILL were married on 6 March 1823 in Vigo County, Indiana.99,100 Zelota CARGILL101, daughter of Nathan CARGILL and Mercy ANGELL, was born in 1800 in New York.

1840 Census. Vigo Co IN
Z. Allen. 2m under 5, 1m 5-10. 1f under 5, 1f 5-10, 1f 30-40 [Zelota]

Zelota Allen married Nathan H. Spears on 27 Oct 1844. There was also a marriage of Zelota Allen to Gooding Holloway on 9 May 1841. Did she have a daughter named Zelota? Did she marry Holloway so briefly she didn't use his name?
In a marriage abstract book found at ACPL, the bride's index showed Zelota Allen to Holloway Gooding, but the listing didn't appear anywhere in the book that I could find.

Zelota Spears married Samuel Allen 17 Mar 1850.

In the 1850 Vigo Co IN Census, is a "Samuel" Allen, age 55, born in New York married to a Zelota, age 50, also born in New York. Child Miron D., born Massachusetts also lives with them with spouse Abigail and a son Frances, age 2, and a daughter Florence E. age 1. There is no indication that there was another Allen of this family, near this age, named Samuel.

Information from a descendant of Nathan Spears states that he married again - censuses show Nathan, wife Martha, and children. Apparently Zelota and Nathan divorced.

Henry Cromwell ALLEN and Zelota CARGILL had the following children:

Miron Dexter ALLEN.

Dewit Clinton ALLEN.
