He was a retail merchant at the General Store. George's wife was Hester A., age 42, b. AR, her parents born in Tennessee. Charles E., their son, age 20, also working at the General Store and just married to Bernice, age 17, daughter-in-law. The Pense family also had a daughter Thelma, age 17, and son Raymond, age 6.

Ryan built several historically and technically significant aircraft, but its most successful production aircraft would be the Ryan Firebee line of unmanned drones used as targets and unmanned air vehicles. The company was sold to Teledyne in 1969 for $128,000,000 - then became part of Northrup Grumman when they bought Teledyne in 1999, with the products continuing to form the core of that firm's unmanned aerial vehicle efforts..
