  An account of officers sworn March ye 6th & 7th & 10th, Joseph Winchel Town Clerk; John Kent, John Austin, Joseph Winchel, Assessors; Daniel Adams, Constable. John Burbank, Town Treasurer; John Huxley, John Warner, Tything Men; John Rising, Caleb Alein, Samuel Roe, Edward Smith Jun, Benjamin King, & John Warner Jun, Hogg Reeves; Samuel Copley, Benjamin Rimington, Surveighours of High ways; Timothy Palmer, William King, Joseph Harmon Junr, John Kent Junr, Samuel Pallmer, Fence Viewers; Ebenezer Burbank, Sealer of Leather; Jonathan Rimington, sworn March 17th.

  Att a Lawfull Town Meeting of the Inhabitants of Suffield, March ye, 22d, 1721, Voted 1st, that Ebenezer Smith should be Moderator for said Meeting,
  2ndly, Voted; to chuse two men to joyn with Joseph Winchel, to serveigh the deeds of exchange which concern the Town, to see whether they are executed according to true intent, and meaning, and to make report thereof to the Town.
  3d1y, Pursuant to the preceding vote, Deacon John Hanchet, and Samuel Kent Senr, were chosen to joyn with Joseph Winchel, in order to do as in the preceding vote is expressed.
  4thly, Voted that there shall be a high way of eight rods wide laid out from the Highway by the Sawmill Pond, to run across said Pond northward, until it come to the Highway, that leads out west from High Street. (Now Remington Street.)

  Att a Lawfull Town Meeting of the Inhabitants of Suffield, March ye 30th 1721, First, John Kent Senr, was chuzen Moderator for said meethig.
  2nd1y, Joseph Winchel, by a clear vote was chosen Land measurer.

  Att a Lawfull Town meeting, of the Inhabitants of Suffield, May the 22d, 1721, first, voted that John Kent Sen, should be moderator for said Meeting.
  2nd1y, Voted: to lmpower the Select Men to hire a room at the Towns charge for the Widdow Winchel to live in.

* Hog Reeve, were first ordered by the Province Law in 1714, and first to appointed here in 1715. Their sole duty was to enforce the laws relating swine, which were permitted to run at large in the highways and woods, suitably equipped. Afterward the duties of Haward, or Field Driver, were combined in the office of Hog Reeve. "Hog Reeves" were chosen here until 1750. No such office, existed in Conn. To a late period Towns made the ByLaws, restraining or permitting the use of the Highways for pasturage. (See p. 111.) Swine suitably ringed and yoaked, and geese with yokes were permitted to run at large on Highways until 1837, when the Town Voted: "That swine, sheep, and geese shall not be permitted to go at large on any terms whatever." Fence Viewers were first chosen here in 1686. Their prescribed duties were, "for the better preventing of damage in Cornfields, and other improved and common Lands, by Horses, Cattle, Sheep and Swine going at large,"
