OF SUFFIELD. At a great and generall Town Meeting March ye 9th, 1712/13: for the choice of necessary Town Officers, for the year Insuing; at which Meeting Choice was made of ye several persons hereafter named, to their severall. places of Trust, as followeth; viz.,Select Men. THOMAS SMITH SENR, SAMUEL KENT SENR, PETER ROE, JOHN BURBANK , SAMUEL YOUNGLOVE. Constable-George Norton. Town Clerk-John Austin. Town Treasurer, & Land Measurer-Joseph Winchill. Tything Men-Thomas Granger Senr, Anthony Austin, Jacob Adams Junr. Clerk of the Market-Jonathan Taylor. Fence Viewers-Benjamin Reminton, John Kent Junr, James King Junr, Johm Hanchet Jun,. Surveyers of Highways-James Lawton, Samuel Kent Junr, William Halladay, Abraham Adams. Searchers, seallers, & gagers of casks-James King Senr, John Kent Sen, John Burliss. Sealer of Leather-Jacob Adams Sen. At this Generall Town Meeting first, It was agreed, and voted: That John Kent Sen, shall hold his Northeast Corner Bound, in his twenty acres of Second Division against John Harmons, as it was sd by ye Land Measurer; notwithstanding, ye record of ye Highway. 2nd. The Town by a clear vote, granted to Samuel Kent Junr, a strip of Land lying between ye Land which ye Town gave him for keeping School, and ye Land that he had of Jonathan Remington. The said strip of Land lyeth on ye East side of woolf pitt Brook; and is Granted to recompence him for Land taken off by ye Hiehway, on the Northwest Corner of ye Land, that was Jonathan Rerningtons above said. 3d. The Town by a clear vote Granted to Benjamin Gillett a strip of Land off of ye South side of ye highway, that lyeth north of his house; so as that ye Highway shall extend in wedth no farther than to the North side of his House, and from said House, ye said Highway is to increase in breadth as it goes Westward, so as to have its full wedth, at twenty rods end, from said House. 4th. It was agreed, and voted: That ye Select Men shall from year, to year sometime in the ninth of June, (next after their time is out) make Lip accounts with ye Treasurer for all Rates committed to the Constable in their own year, and to see all accounts cleared, and to bring their account, to ye Town the next Meeting. At a Legall Town Meeting, March ye 25th, 1713: The Town by a clear vote: granted the Widow Pumrey, one pound, fifteen shillings, for her Husband's care and trouble as a Committee man for buildine, and finishing Meeting House. 2ndly. The Town by a clear vote Granted to ye Heirs of Capt Austin deceased, Twenty Shillings for his Committeeship for the Meeting House. 3d. It was agreed, voted, by a Clear vote; that ye Schooll. shall be kept in High Street.
