My Grandpa, John Charles Hillman
1899-1984
Abt. 9mths. old when this picture was taken
John Charles Hillman
This site is in loving memory of him.
Because of him, I have a love for the past,
and a longing to know where we came from.
I am grateful that his mother took
such loving care of these photos, and when
she was no longer able...Grandpa did.
Sadly, Grandpa lost his mother when
he was only 13,
moving around, from place to place,
and clinging to the only things left
that connected him to his mother,
makes them all the more precious to me.
and the thought of him as a boy,
Grandpa passed away knowing very
little about his roots.
So, here I am, trying to answer
the questions that he never got answered.
I know he'd be proud.
(Thank you Grandma, for entrusting them to me!)
