ISAAC BROOKFIELD (John, Deborah, David, Jonathan, Jonathan, Thurston), b. 14 Nov 1797, d. 28 Feb 1845, northeastern Arkansas; m. 23 Mar 1823, Nancy CAMPBELL, b. 1804, KY, d. after 1865, Cross County, AR, d/o Lawrence County, AR Sheriff James and Ursula (WILSON) CAMPBELL. Isaac BROOKFIELD became a Methodist minister. He left New Jersey, traveling by riverboat down the Ohio River, and then up the Mississippi to St. Louis, and was then sent in 1819 as a missionary to the Indians and scattered white settlers in the Arkansas Territory.  He served  the northern half of Arkansas as a Methodist circuit rider before being transferred to the Hot Springs Circuit.  With his home in old Davidsonville, Lawrence County, he returned there in 1823.  Lawrence County was the parent county of the northeastern quarter of Arkansas.  Isaac BROOKFIELD served as County Judge of newly formed Greene County, Arkansas from 1833-1835.  After Davidsonville was burned following an epidemic, probably yellow fever, Isaac BROOKFIELD retired to his plantation two miles north of the present day Harrisburg, AR.  Both he and his wife, Nancy, are bur. on the old BROOKFIELD farm, in the family cemetery.
