Molasses Bran Muffins

1/2 cup BROWN SUGAR
1/4 cup SHORTENING
1/4 cup MOLASSES
2 EGGS
1 cup MILK
14/: cups BRAN
1 cup FLOUR
1 1/2 tsp. BAKING SODA
pinch SALT
1/2 cup RAISINS
1/2 cup NUTS

Mix first five ingredients with electric mixer. In another bowl mix together bran, flour, soda and salt. Add dry ingredients quickly to liquid mixture. Fold in raisins and nuts. Spoon into muffin tins and bake until muffins test done. Bake at 400 degree 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 18 muffins.
