Kay Basch's Banana Bread

2 cups ripe banana, mashed
3 cups sugar
1 cup butter
4 eggs
3 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
6 tbsp. buttermilk
1 cup chopped nuts

Cream butter, then gradually add sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Add bananas. Sift flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon. Add to the banana mixture. Add vanilla and buttermilk, mixing until all ingredients are well combined. Fold in nuts by hand. Bake in two greased loaf pans at 325 degrees for about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. Makes two loaves.
