Granny's Sour Cream Poundcake

1 cup butter or margarine
3 cups sugar
6 eggs, separated
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 pint sour cream

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add egg yolks one at a time. Add soda to flour. Add alternately, flour mixture and sour cream to creamed mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff, then fold in. Bake in a large bundt pan, greased and floured at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. It should have a nice brown crust on top. Let stand 15 minutes before removing from pan.
