In the book ' Cowra on The Lachlan' it states that Tenders were called for the erection of a brick watch-house at Cowra in 1859. Brick maker George Hodder moved his family from Bathurst to a slab walled cottage in Middlemiss paddock ( now Taralga) when he secured the contract for the supply of bricks for the Lockup which also served as a courthouse.
He died the year after he completed the task and was supposedly the first person buried in the Carcoar cemetary.
He produced sandstone and slop bricks entirely by hand. Inside the impressions the bricks were decorated with clubs, spades and hearts on the distictive diamonds used by Hodder. Parents: William HODDER and Mary TILLEY.

After an illness of only six days, the death occured at his residence, Porter's Mount on Friday of Mr George Hodder, familarily known as The squire of Porter's Mount. The cause of death was chronic heart failure.
The deceased , who was 66 years of age was a native of England. He was the son of the late George Hodder who was a seafaring man. The late Mr hodder resided in this state for 60 years, the greater portion of that term being spent in the Cowra District.
A sorrowing widow and a large family remain to mourn their sad loss. The deceased was married twice . Miss Mary Porter being his first wife, and Miss Eliza Hines being the second. The members of the first family were George, James, John, Isaac, Isabella, Robert and Walter, and children of the second marraige were Francis, Joseph, Alice, Edward,Margaret, Sidney, David and Edie.
The funeral to the Church of England cemetary was a very large one. rev John Parr conducted the last sad rites. The funeral arrangements were well carried out by W Simeon, Undertaker Cowra.

3 George Hodder ( George3 ) son of George Hodder and Isabella. He
disappeared at the same time as Isaac Hodder his brother, and I found him
a couple of years ago in the Geraldton Cemetery, . Turns out he came west
and Isaac stayed in SA. George became a 'Dogger' and trapped dingo's in
the WA goldfields. He became involved with a full blood aboriginal lady,
they were never married but produced 3 children. I have met one of
George's grandsons and they have some information for me. They were aware
of his English background but not of any family. They were really happy
to meet me and I was able to give them some photographs and background on
their grandfather's family.

Wanganui lost a singer of note with the death of Mrs Ivy Perrett on Friday 8th March 1974. Mrs Perrett was the daughter of the the well known Hamilton dramatic soprano Mrs R. Hodder, arrived Wanganui with her husband Mr G. W. Perrett in 1928. She had inherited her mother's voice and was soon well known in Wanganui for her public performances. In 1938 she went to Melbourne Conservatory where she studied voice production under Madam Ottee for 6 months. On her return she started teaching and established Madame Perretts Concert Parties. Her concert parties toured the Wanganui area & surrounding districts, raising money for charities, until 1965. Singing however always remained an important part of Mrs Perretts life, and up until her death on Friday, she had singing pupils. The funeral service will be held today Monday 11th 1974 at Christ Church Wickstead Street Wanganui.

WORKED ON CONSTRUCTION OF WYANGLA DAM.
The late Mr James William Hodder who died in the Balmain Hospital on June 14th at the age of 79yrs had been ill for several weeks prior to his death and had been an inmate if the Cowra District Hospital for seven weels prior to entering the Sydney Hospital for treatment.
he was born at Cowra to parents George and Mary Hodder and spent practically all his life in the district.
He was employed in a butcher's shop at Girilambone for 14 years and on his return to Cowra married Miss Frances Jane Hines on December 25th 1908 and went to reside at Porters Mount where he had resided ever since.
James worked on the construction of Wyangla Dam from begining to completion. He was founder of the Cowra branch of the Old Age Pensioners league.
The funeral took place in the Church of England portion of the Cowra Cemetary after a service in St John's C of E.
The late Mr Hodder is survived by his widow Frances, four daughters and two sons. Parents: George HODDER III and Mary Jane PORTER.
