The Goldfields Family History Society Inc is a non-profit organisation which aims to encourage and support individuals in their family history research and to promote, encourage and foster the study, science and knowledge of genealogy.

The Society was established in October 1985 as the Goldfields Genealogy Group, following a weekend long seminar by the Western Australian Genealogical Society Inc (WAGS), held in the District Education Office, Federal Road, Kalgoorlie. On the 5 Sept 1988 we were granted Branch status of WAGS, and ran as the Goldfields Branch of WAGS for 12 years, before disbanding and becoming an independent organisation on 26 April 2000.

At a council meeting held on 14 June 1999 (attended by a number of very anxious members of the Branch!) the Council adopted a resolution to enter into a lease agreement with the Goldfields Branch of WAGS. We were able to finally move into our very own premises and to establish our new 'home'. Our library quickly expanded to house our extensive resources and equipment, allowing members and visitors space for researching their family histories.

Our Society carries out a research service at reasonable costs. Options include searching records in our Society library and/or additional information at the Council library as well as burial details if buried in the Kalgoorlie or Boulder cemetery (with a photograph of headstone if applicable).

Payment is required prior to any research being undertaken.
