Researching the surname Kahl
(Cale - Coehl - Kahl - Kahle - Kail - Kale - Kehl)

For the past eight years I have been compiling information on the genealogy of the Kahl family.
My main focus has been on the descendents of Johan Michael Kehl (1734-1794), though I have information
on other lines as well. I have yet to find proof, but Johan Michael Kehl is believed by many genealogists to
be the son of Georg Dietrich Kehl (1685-1738) and Maria Ursula Buckenmeyer. Georg Dietrich Kehl, the son of
Christoph Coehl (ca 1659) and Elisabetha (ca 1663), was born in Waldangelloch, Germany. He and his family
immigrated to North America on the ship Britannia, arriving in Philadelphia on September 21, 1731.
Gathering this information has not been an easy task and there is much more that I have yet to discover.
In addition to what is posted on this website, I have accumulated other information that I did not post simply
due to its sheer size and time considerations. I will gladly share or exchange any information I have on your
family line. If you are also researching the Kahl line, I would appreciate hearing from you.
