6. SYMON6 STACY (John5, Symon4, Thomas3, Thomas2, Thomas1) (#4693) was born in North Petherton Parish, Somerset, England about 1 Jul 1638. Symon died 23 Jan 1719 in Old Poquoson, Va, at 80 years of age.
He was christened in North Petherton Parish, Somerset, England, 23 Jul 1638. Symon Stacy came to America between 1656 and 1661, along with his brother Thomas Stacy and sister Hannah. Symon was in Lancaster Co, Va in the years 1667 and 1668. It was not until 1672 that two men came forward to claim their land grants for the transportation of Symon. They were Robert Beverly and George Harper, and both on the same day filed for that land grant. in 1673, William Elliott, neighbor of Robert Elliott claimed he too deserved a land grant for Symon Stacy's transportatio to America. It is interesting to note that in each case, all passenger's are basically the same names, only a couple exceptions. However, Symon and his wife Mary had moved to Maryland by 1674, returning to Virginia by 1686, Symon is now found in Stafford County, Va. He leased land there in Stafford County, Va from Thomas Watts for a period of 16 years. Thomas Watts heirs went to court after his death, to break the lease and we learn that Symon now has a new wife, Elizabeth Watts. As an heir to Thomas Watts, Symon took his family over into York County by 24 Jul 1690 when his son Joseph was born. They had 4 known children.
Symon lived in Oaken Swamp, in the area of Old Poquoson, or Charles Parish. He died there 23 Jan 1718, and his wife Elizabeth died 14 Apr 1718. Remembering the time differential of that era, Symon actually died 23 Jan 1719.
There are two dominant lines discussed in the three Stacy Journals by Barbara Stacy Mathews, that of Symon's son John Stacy (Sr.) and his youngest son, Joseph Stacy. Descendants have spread to nearly every state in the union.

91. WINNIFRED "WINNIE"11 COMBS (Setha10 Stacy, Simon9, Simon8, John7, Symon6, John5, Symon4, Thomas3, Thomas2, Thomas1) (#5255) was born in Virginia. Winnifred died in Wright Co, Mo.
She married twice. She married SAMUEL SUMNER about 1774. (Samuel Sumner is #5254.) Samuel evidently was shot and killed and two different stories have been told. One is that he was shot by a sheriff for resisting arrest - possibly for horse thievery. The other story is that he was a miller and was set upon on his way home one night and murdered. In any case, it would seem that his widow took the children and returned to her family whom we have not been able to identify yet. There were 7 or 8 Combs brothers who left NC/VA and settled for a short time in what is now Bristol County, Tennessee on the Holsten River. From there they came into Kentucky and were responsible for giving the land to and creating Perry County. Nancy remarried, a man named Robert Hicks, had additional children and died in Wright County, Missouri.
She married ROBERT HICKS about 1830. (Robert Hicks is #5263.) He married WINNIFRED "WINNIE" COMBS about 1830.

John was born sometime between 1775 and 1794 in either Virginia or North Carolina, per Jean Alongi of Mesa, AZ John died 1830 in Jackson Co, In, at 55 years of age.
He married JUDAH STEWARD. (Judah Steward is #5120.) Judah was born circa 1770. Judah was the daughter of Jasper Steward. Judah died after 1850 in Letcher Co, Ky. He was granted 150 acres of land in Floyd County, Ky on 27 Nov 1815. He owned 2 slaves. John & Judah took their family to Indiana sometime in the 1820s. John died there in Jackson County, Indiana in 1830. They may have gone because John's aunt Elizabeth and her husband, John Cody were there and possibly his grandmother Nancy and her second husband, Robert Hicks. Elizabeth and John Cody moved on to Write County, Missouri and so did Nancy and her husband Robert Hicks. John and Judah had 5 known children. Two females whose first names are unknown were born between 1790 and 1805.

He was on some stairs and it's not known if he died from falling debris or if his heart failed. She used to come back home for periodic visits and she always brought her no longer used clothing for the women in her family. She came home once after the quake, with her new husband. They never heard from her again after that visit.

        xii. NIMROD (#150) was born in Letcher Co, Ky November 1873. Nimrod died in Ashland, Boyd Co, Ky. His body was interred in Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Boyd Co, Ky. in the Potters Field section, as there was no more room in the Kiser Plot in McCormick Cemetery in Summit Station. Nim never married, had no issue. He was never "right". The type of his mental illness is not known. After his father's death he came to live with his brother Joseph and his wife Rosa. She became afraid of Nim, she had small children at home, so she made the Kiser brothers put him in an institution in Lexington, Ky. In later years he lived in the Poor Farm there in Ashland, and that's where he died.
