Captured in Murray County, Georgia on May 27, 1864. was forwarded to Rock Island Prison and was received there on June 6, 1864. He refused to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, and was kept in prison there until released May 19, 1865. Handed down family lore states he walked home from Illinois to Georgia.
