'1 September 1881 married Harry Jeffery (30), gentleman, at the Parish Church, Camberwell. Harry's (not Harold as we had been led to believe) father was William Jeffery, Stationer. Harry's address given as 25 Union Rd, Clapham. We have been unable to find Harry or his father in the 1881 census. Witnesses at the wedding were William James Webster, Mary's father, and Eleanor. Harry Jeffery died 4 November 1887 of rheumatism, peritonitis and exhaustion at 16 Kelmore Grove, Camberwell aged 36. His occupation was given as a Wine Merchants Clerk. The death was reported by Frederick Webster, brother in law. Mary died 14 April 1953 aged 100 in the Pembroke Nursing Home, 11 Spencer Hill, Wimbledon. Her home address was given as 49 Northampton Rd, Croydon and as the widow of "John" Jeffery. Cause of death was given as hypostatic pneumonia due to senility and ... (the rest is unreadable). We have copies of their marriage certificate and both death certificates.'
