Company I, 48th Regiment of NC Troops |
This unit was raised and enlisted of troops from Union, Mecklenburg and Cleveland Counties. The company functioned as part of the regiment, formed in Iredell County on 11 April 1862, for the entirety of the war. Colonel Robert C Hill served at the Commander of the 48th. Its exploits are reported as part of the regimental history. More detailed information on each of these soldiers can be found in North Carolina Troops 1861-1865 A Roster, Volume X, Infantry, compiled by Weymouth T Jordan, Jr with Unit Histories by Louis H Manarin. All genealogists owe a debt of gratitude to these gentlemen for their wonderful tribute to our ancestors.
| I have chosen to list only those Soldiers in this Company who resided in Cleveland County. |
| All the Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers resided in Union and Mecklenburg Counties. |
