ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1. Rewfus Nicholas mar. Lowdusca Gum, 2 Mar 1848, by E. Neace. G. C. ?., Book ABC, p. 30. I believe that Laduski may be the daughter of Jesse Gum and Aletha Dunkle who are in the 1850 Lawrence County census. I don't have proof yet, but her age and state of birth in the 1850 census indicates that she might be their oldest child. She is not mentioned in the published abstract of Jesse's probate file, but neither are the other adult children like Lewis. She could be a much younger sister of Jesse, whose father, also named Jesse, is living with him in 1850.

17. Levi Copple. From molawren-l post Oct 2001: "Although I do not have any information on a Levi Copple I do have plenty on Green and Nancy and/or Abner G and Nancy. Abner G. Copple born April 6, 1835, NC and died after 1897 around, I believe, Cassville, Berry County, MO. Abner G Copple is the son of Solomon and Barbary Copple ( 1850 US Census Polk County, Mo). On the 1860 US Census of Polk County, MO, Marion Township there is Abner Copple age 24, NC, Nancy Copple age 26, MO and Rebeca Copple age 1, MO (Rebeca marries William Riley Elkins). In the Polk County Marriage Records 1836-1859 Book A: Green A Copple (believe this to be Abner G. for I have found him listed in other records as Green, A. G., and Abner) to Nancy Mackey 26 Feb 1854. On the 1870 US Census of Flat Creek Township, Barry County, MO: Copple, Abner G 35,NC, Nancy 25, MO, Rebeca J 9, MO, Mary S 5, MO, Sarah E, 1, MO. If you notice Nancy actually got younger. In the Marriage Record Book ABC Lawrence County MO 1845 - 1870 page 19; Copple, Abner G to Nancy P Fair 28 Jan 1868. This leads me to believe that Abner had two wives with the first name of Nancy but have not been able to prove this other than these two entries. Solomon passed away between 1853 and 1860. On the 1860 US Census of Ozark Township, Lawrence County, MO: Barabara Coble age 51, NC, Susan 26, NC, Vena (believe to be Winifer) 23, NC, Lue ( believe to be Louise H J) 16, MO, Lemuel J, 7, MO. Barabara Copple owned land just north of Misemer Cemetery and is listed in the deeds book. Then the 1870 Census you mentioned. Barabara's land was very close to John Elkins land and I believe her grandchildren came and visited her from time to time. On one of these visits Rebeca Jane Copple met William Riley Elkins and they were eventually married though I have not as yet found record of their marriage. William and Rebeca had several children one of whom is William Wesley Elkins ( my husband's grandpa) who married Eugene Neigh Springfield, both are buried in Sycamore Cemetery. Laura Elkins."
From email of 10 Nov 2001: "The only thing close to our Cobles would be Levi Coble, born 1830 died 1865...shot by bushwhackers on the last day of the Civil War, in Lawrence County....according to family legend. He is not of my direct ancestry, but I have forwarded your letter to some of his direct descendants for their consideration. He was a grandson of the Henry Coble of Dade County, where we set the stone this last spring." gentree@getgoin.net
