**The Album (link above) probably was the possession of Lillian (Darrin) Skutt - daughter of Mary Jenette Smith & Nelson B. Darrin - however there could be pictures of Lillian's half brother & sisters from Jenette's marriage to Thomas Stanley - or perhaps from her fathers's son William Ray Darrin - who was taken in by John Smith of Emporium area.

Death of William Smith

Mr. William Smith, for many years a citizen of this town and residing in Dykes creek valley, died about midnight Saturday after a brief illness, aged 62 years. Mr. Smith was born in Steuben county and removed to Allegany in 1831 and has since continuously resided here. He was a plain every-day genial and generous man and neighbor. Everybody who knew him, respected and esteemed him, as they will regret to learn of his unexpected and somewhat sudden death. The Funeral is to be observed tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2. p.m. (research  done by: Judy Allen Cwiklinski)
