Family of Henry J. & Elizabeth (Paddock) Allen

of Steuben Co., NY & Tioga Co., PA

ancestors of Judy (Allen) Cwiklinski

Henry  J. & Elizabeth (Paddock) Allen - first show up in the town of Wayne, Steuben Co., NY.  By 1850 Henry isn't with his family when the 1850 Bradford, Steuben Co., NY census was taken - Elizabeth is listed with children: Zelotes Allen; Lydia Allen; Lovica/Louisa Allen; Henry Allen (my ancestor); David Allen; Thomas Allen; Nathan Allen & Sally Allen.  I am assuming that Henry might have died - I have checked the mortality schedule for 1850 with no luck - so with this in mind it leads me to believe he died before June 1849/June 1850, when the Mortality Schedule would have covered. That is baring the possibility that he took off and left his family that is.

I am still looking for descendant's of some of the children:  

Zelatus P. Allen (aka Zelotes) m. Nancy A. French, by whom he had: David F. Allen, Moses Allen & Clarence J. Allen.  

Lydia Allen m. Caleb Clark, they had children: Caleb Clark, Jr. m. Susie Smith d/of Jesse & Catherine (Norton) Smith; Catherine Elizabeth Clark (unknown who she might have married); Mary L. Clark m. Erastus Smith, (I believe him to be the s/of Jesse & Catherine (Norton) Smith - have nothing on their family.)  Lydia Clark - unknown who she might have married and lastly; Henry Clark (aka Harry) who married Addie Cornwell.  

Louisa/Lovica Minerva Allen married Warren Hall - I have some of their families, I am looking for more info. though. They had children: George W. Hall m. Nancy Elizabeth Pierce; Allen Hall m. Mary N. Harrington & Minnie Plumstead; Sarah L. Hall m. Edward White; Charles A. Hall (n.f.i); Martha Hall m. Martin Steadman; Henrietta "Nettie" Hall m. J. E. Clark.

Henry C. Allen - (my gr. gr. grandfather) m. Celestia Slocum, d/of John P. & Eliza T. (Moss/Morse) Slocum. Children of Henry & Celestia (Slocum) Allen include: William Henry Allen (married his cousin Lydia "Loella" Clark d/of Caleb & Susie (Smith) Clark, Jr.);  Sally Ann Allen m. David P. Baker; Thomas Allen (no desc.); Harriet "Hattie" Elizabeth Allen m. William Ed(i)son Allen - (my gr. grandparent's - his family on a previous page); George Allen (died young); Emma Susan Allen  m. Herbert "Lee" Allen (he is the brother of Wm. E. Allen's) - Emma died in a tradegy when her cousin Ernest Allen while fooling around the gun fired and struck Emma in the head killing her.

David Allen - (Although I do not yet have proof I believe my David married Catherine Burrell/Berle - they had children: Ernest; Frank & Harriet "Hattie" Allen - Ernest married Jennie (...?...); Frank Allen married Grace (...?...) & Hattie A. Allen married Andrew Button (s/of Alonzo & Polly (Whitney) Button - they had a daughter Pearl Button, b.  May 1900 - Using the latest Button Genealogy it does not give any mention of Andrew's marriages - but I have seen proof by marriage records that he was 1st married to Harriet Allen on 4 Jul 1986 @ Corning, Steuben Co., NY - he married 2nd. Lanore Sears on 15Apr1900 @ Troupsburg, Steuben Co., NY - there is NO divorce in Steuben or Tioga Co. PA for him & Harriet) 

Thomas Utter Allen  - m. Anna Maria Hackett of Chatham, Tioga Co., PA.  They had children: Henry D. Allen; Abram H. Allen; Frank N. Allen; Charles E. Allen; Luel J. Allen; Maybelle (Mabel?) Allen; Floyd G. Allen.  Family lived in Chatham, Tioga Co., PA; Tyrone, Schuyler Co., NY; Steuben Co., NY; Beaver Dams, Schuyler Co., NY - later around Rochester, Monroe Co., NY.

Nathan (Arthur?) Allen - I lack information on him.  I believe he may have married Mary (....?....) - he lived at one time around Brookfield, Tioga Co., PA & Troupsburg, Steuben Co., NY - and possibly in Whites Corners, Harrison twp., Potter Co., PA.  

Sally Allen - assumed that she died young as she does not show up with mother & brothers in the 1860 Chatham census.
