David L. COWAN
David L. COWAN, died 14 November 1874 McDonald Co., Missouri; buried White Oak,
Oklahoma; married Hannah Ellen MUNHOLLON; buried Old Farmer's Cem., Powell, Missouri.
(Hannah's aunt was Belle MUNHOLLON married to James B. WILD. They had a son named Edward.
Somehow an Uncle Claib fit into Hannah's family.) David and Hannah's 6 children: John
Calvin COWAN; born 20 November 1872 near Cyclone, Missouri; married 1) Mandy PHILLIPS (who
had a sister Margaret). They had 3 daughters. Nothing else known except she divorced him;
he was supposedly a very mean man. He married 2) Eliza TANNER (who had a sister Rosa).
Dau. May COWAN died 1901 on Thanksgiving Day. Apparently John had been playing with the
baby and had dropped her. She was injured and could no longer walk so she pulled herself
around. While her mother was out hanging clothes, the baby pulled herself over too close
to the open fireplace and caught on fire. She was less than two years old. I believe that
marriage also ended in divorce. John married 3) Joann BENNETT, born 24 April 1860, New
York State. Son Frank COWAN, born 1905; married Ruth _____. Ruth and Frank had at least 1
son (who may live in or near Webb City, Missouri). Roberta COWAN married _____ STUDIVAN.
John Cowan's siblings: David l. Cowan, born 14 April 1874 McDonald Co., Missouri; buried
White Oak, Oklahoma; James Isaiah COWAN, born 29 October 1876, buried beside his mother
when young in Old Farmer's Cemetery, Powell, Mo.; Rosa Belle COWAN, born 26 December 1878,
buried beside mother when young in Old Farmer's Cemetery, Powell, Mo.; Henry B. COWAN,
born 1 August 1881, buried beside mother when young in Old Farmer's Cemetery, Powell, Mo.
Delia (?Della?) COWAN, born 17 August 1886. Mandy and Margaret PHILLIPS are somehow
related to another of my families named CROOK. Somehow Mark COWAN, William Jack COWAN (who
had brothers), and Richard COWAN are part of this family but I have no idea how. Evelyn
