John Grey
- Born in Monaghan Ireland in 1821
- Emigrated to Australia in 1852 on the ship Steadfast
- Farmer at Branxholme, Victoria
- His wife Elizabeth Grey died after being shot in leg on 24 July 1883
- John Grey was found guilty of wilful murder of his wife on 23 February 1884 and was sentenced to death
- Sentence commuted to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour on 10 April 1884
- Died 21 November 1889 in Geelong Gaol
- Buried in unmarked grave at Branxholme Cemetery
