According to notes from Shirley Flewitt my second cousin she had taken my mother and Aunt Helen to the Methodist Church  Cemetery in Cupids, NF to see the grave of William and Elizabeth.

Notes for William Dawe:

Note: I have made two references for William with his wife, Elizabeth the daughter of John Dawe b 1815 from Ship Cove, Port de Grave, NF. In two different charts there were conflicting reports of how many children they had. In one place the report appeared to imply that William married twice. Please don't confuse the chart with stating William married twice. I used that reference as a spring board to try and show the both sides of data that was presented in Family charts

Notes for Elizabeth Of John Dawe:

Source of Information: Provided by Margaret Irene Raynor {Mays-Dawe} from Family Tree Charts given to Judith A Scott from my mother's estate.

Note: I have recorded two Elizabeth  Dawe's as there were two sources of records, one with Elizabeth's name with "Of John" attached to it and the other with it deleted from the record.

Note: The second record also deleted a child from the records named Elizabeth Emma.

Notes for William Dawe:

William Dawe great-grandfather to Judith Arlene Scott. My great-grandfather fished the seas off the coasts of Newfoundland and New Brunswick for most of his life. The Daw family go back many years as men who fished the seas off the coasts of Newfoundland and surrounding areas .My great-grandfather owned and operated a fishing vessel named the SS Coban. He and two other men on board the ship were fishing along the coasts of New Brunswick when there was a coal gas explosion on board. As a result of the coal gas explosion the ship sank taking all three men with it. The ship including the men would never be recovered. To this day as far as we the family can determine the ship SS Coban has never been recovered o r re-floated again. There has been some talk of a ship named SS Coban  that was discovered and re-floated sometime around 1927. This ship is not to be confused with the SS Coban that was owned and operated by my great-grandfather William Dawe.

More Notes for William Dawe: According to new information provided by Grenfell Morgan my 3rd cousin he has stated that the SS Coban was not lost at sea as earlier reported. Grenfell also provided information that the SS Coban was not owned by the Dawe family as previously recorded but was owned by the Dominion Coal Company.

More Notes for William Dawe: This new information that has been provided by Grenfell Morgan is contrary to my family records. All charts, notes, records and Family tree sources all stated that William Dawe was lost at sea as a result of a coal gas explosion on board with the SS Coban and all 3 men perishing May 3, 1903 along the Coasts of New Brunswick. Further research is needed to substantiate all the claims that my family records have stated.

More Notes: Grenfell has provided the name of one of the 2 men who was previously un-named as being that of a William Morgan. He did agree that information he found did confirm what my records had said about all 3 men as being lost at sea. These men were never recovered as far as we can tell. Further research is needed to find out the correct reason why William was on the SS Coban and the circumstances surrounding his death. I am interested to find out who the 3rd man was that was killed along side both William Dawe and William Morgan.

More Notes: Grenfell did provide information that all 3 men did in fact perish as a result of the coal gas explosion along the coasts of New Brunswick. Further research is needed to locate information that will substantiate the reason why William Dawe was on the ship and what he was planning to do as a result of this journey on the SS Coban.

More Notes related to William Dawe lost at sea May 3, 1903:

New information has been provided by Robert Parsons who is a writer, Researcher, Archivist (Level 1).  It was an article taken from the "Vindicator"  newspaper believed to be a  Newfoundland paper.  It reads as follows:

"A Fatal Accident""

The explosion on board the "Coban" while on her way from St .John's  to Montreal on Saturday week last, resulted in the death of three person's two of them Newfoundlanders. One of them was a William Dawe of Cupids, Newfoundland who left there for Montreal on the steamer. His sudden death is felt at Cupids keenly, where he leaves a wife and two children and especially so, as the body of the unfortunate man was not recovered, it being hurled into the sea by the force of the explosion.

Note: According to The Brigus United Methodist Church Baptism Records it has recorded William Dawe as his birth date July 12, 1868 and his baptism as August 19, 1868. Both dates confirm what is recorded on Family Tree Charts but the years are changed in the directory at the Brigus Church Baptismal Records.

Notes for William Dawe:

William Dawe was my great-grandfather. His family in Cupids, NF called him "Billy". William and his wife Julia Ann {Morgan} lived with his parents William and Elizabeth in the family home .He was a fisherman all of his life. The water and    fishing were the only way of life he knew. Before my great-grandfather was killed at sea he had planned to move his family into their own home but circumstances didn't allow that to take place. I am sure my great-grandparents never thought an accident was just around the corner waiting to unfold that would forever change their lives .On May 3,1903 as usual my great-grandfather was fishing. On that particular day my great-grandfather and the other two men that were with him were fishing along the coasts of New Brunswick. There was an explosion on board o f coal gas and as a result the ship {SS Coban} went down with all three men on board. The ship and all three men were lost at sea and never recovered. He was a 4 1 year old man much too young to die who left a young widow with two small children .One of the children he left behind was my grandfather, Stanley Dawe. The other child was my great-aunt, Frances Helena Flewitt {Dawe}. I have been told he was a real family man who loved his wife and children very much.

Notes for Julia Ann Morgan:

Julia Ann Morgan {Dawe} was my great-grandmother. She too had an interest and a love for music .I have memories of her when I was just five years old sitting on her bed and she stroking my head and singing to me. She was left a young widow when my great-grandfather was killed at sea. She was a godly woman who believed in the power of prayer .In 1924 my great-grandmother had a dramatic change in her life. At that time she had been in St. Josephs Hospital in Hamilton Ontario             basically dying of mouth cancer. Doctors had told the family to take her home to die and make her as comfortable as possible. My great-grandmother a woman of God as she was, believed God had other plans for her life. She asked her family to help get her dressed and take her to a meeting that was being held by Dr. Charles Price at the Barton Street Arena in Hamilton Ontario. So off they went with great anticipation as my great-grandmother had read earlier that day in her Bibl e, that Jesus Christ healed in Bible days, "so she said to herself why not today"? She certainly had great faith. She was prayed for by Dr.Charles Price and she was healed of mouth cancer. To prove to her and to the doctors a piece of rotten bone fell out of her mouth and doctors declared her to be free from all cancer. She died many years later of natural causes with cancer never to return ever again .I thank God for this  awesome miracle He performed in my great-grandmothers life.

Note: Julia Ann Morgan my great-grandmother who was known by her family as "Nana" was a kind hearted woman who loved her family and spent many years on her knees praying for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know the Lord and live for Him as she did. I can remember my mother telling me about her visits over-night waking up in the early hours of the morning and hearing her grandmother praying for her family before the family had even got up.

Notes for Stanley Dawe:

Stanley Dawe was a retired Superintendent of the Hamilton Hydro working from the bottom up to holding one of the top positions there. He served the  Hamilton Hydro for many years as their Superintendent. He was well liked by everyone and made many life long friends. Stanley Dawe was a family man who loved his wife and children. He was so proud of his four girls. His next source of happiness w as his grandchildren. The highlight of his life was to spend time with his family. He loved to take his family to the beach and for fishing trips. The one thin g my grandfather really liked to do was to take his family north every year for the summer months. Even though my grandfather left Cupids, NF as a young lad h e never really got the love for water and fishing out of his system. My grandpa rents bought a cottage in the north land on the Windego Lake in Englehart,  Ontario. This is where my grandparents would go for 6 months of the year. They both loved to fish and partake of many outdoor activities. He was an outdoors man. He was the one who taught me how to fish as a young girl. I would spend many of my summer vacations at the cottage. If I were asked to express the best words in the English language to share the kind of relationship I had with my grandfather it would be as follows, LOVE, ACCEPTANCE and COMPASSION. Yes, my grandfather had a heart of gold who really loved not only me but all of his family. He truly was a family man in every sense of the word.

Note: Stanley Dawe served in the First World War as a Machine Gunner .He served his country proudly for four years. His rank was a Private. His serial number was 240081. Stanley left the Armed Forces as a Private for civilian life on June 20, 1920 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Notes for Cora Myrtle Lockery:

Cora Lockery is my grandmother She too had a love for music. In her younger days she learned how to play the piano. My grandmother was the one who I always looked up to for direction and for comfort. She was always there for me. I have very early memories of her when I at the young age of two went to live with my grandparents when my parents separated. My mother and I went to Hamilton, Ontario to live in the family home on Hyde Park Avenue. This is where my mother and my    aunts were raised for most of their lives. My grandmother was gifted in sewing and she made all of the families clothing including all the prom dresses for her daughters graduations from high school. My grandmother made all of my doll

clothes .Later on in her life as a great-grandmother to my daughter she made her doll clothes as well. My grandmother was the one who would walk me to school and sing and play games with me all the way there. She made attending school a fun    thing to do. I treasure the times I had with my grandmother during my growing up years.

She had a heart that was full of compassion and truly cared about the other person's feelings. My aunt never wanted to hurt anyone. I believe that is one of the reasons she chose Nursing as her profession. My aunt is survived by her husband Ranald Smith. Betty Smith {Dawe} was a registered nurse and a registered ex-ray technician at the Englehart and District Hospital. She was known for her love of birds, dogs and the cottage on the Windego Lake. Notes for Margaret Irene Dawe:

Margaret Irene was a retired medical staff secretary for the Hamilton Civic Hospitals in Hamilton Ontario. She was dedicated to serving her hospital and the doctors for almost 20 years.

She was given a retirement tea to honor her many years of dedicated service in 1986.They gave her a wonderful send off with showering her with many gifts and many letters of thanks and appreciation by the heads of departments, doctors, nurses and fellow peers with whom she worked with.

The major part of Mom's life was the dedication of her life to her family. She gave of herself and always went the second mile. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Over the years she offered so much support and love to her grandchildren.

When I was left on my own as a single parent to raise two young children she stepped right in and gave of herself to help with child rearing. She would often take the children for weekends to give me a break. On those weekend adventures she would often take the children skating in the winter and swimming in the summer. Mom liked her sports and always included both Stan and Lynn.

She was a person who loved both participating and watching sports on t he television. She liked to watch golf, bowling, tennis and enjoyed all winter sports. In her earlier days she skied, curled, golfed and was on a 5 pin bowling team. For many years she lawn bowled and participated in many tournaments. My mother held seasons tickets for the Tiger Cat Football team in Hamilton and attended many hockey games as well.

Besides the love for sports she also had a love for Music and the Orchestra. Each year Mom would buy seasons tickets for the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. She would go with her sister Helen and her mother Cora Dawe. Music has always been apart of our family. We all have enjoyed music in our homes. Almost every member of our family has taken part in some form of music over the years. Many of us has participated in a church choir. One of my mothers favorite opera singers were the Three Tenors. She especially liked Pavarotti.

Besides music Mom had a love for animals. She just loved Wildlife. She was a member of the Canadian Wildlife Society for many years. She had a love for birds and dogs. All through my growing up years we always had either or both dogs and birds. We had a canary when I was a young girl living at home. His name was Peter and when we moved to Trois Riverre` of course he was re-named as Pierre`. The poor bird, he most likely was confused with his name being changed and  wondered what was going on as for most of his life he was "Peter and then suddenly became "Pierre` for two years and then went back to "Peter when we moved back to Hamilton. We often laughed  together when we would remember when we changed Peter's name so many times when we moved to Quebec and then back to Ontario.

Mom had a dog "Missy" who was her pride and joy. "Missy" was a gift to herself when she retired from the hospital. "Missy gave her many years of companionship and they were the best of buddies.

My mother was my best friend and the person who I could always confide in. I thank God for my mother and for giving  me such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy all the years of dedication and support she gave me in my growing up years and later as an adult. No matter what my mother did, she always put the other person's needs over her own. Even in death she was looking out for her families needs and wondering how we were feeling and how we were going to cope with her soon approaching death. My mother was a treasure. She was a very unique individual, very special indeed. I cannot think of anyone who could ever replace the relationship I had with my mother. I have found out first hand that a mother's love is never replaceable.

Notes for Harvie Harry Mays:

Harvie Harry Mays was the youngest child of ten living children, the son of Thomas Mays and Rose Sophia Young. He was an honor roll student in both elementary and secondary school. He was active in scholastics and sports and extra-curricular activities. He was quite involved on the gym team and the basketball team. His main interests were his music in which he gave 100 percent of his time to it.

My father was a gifted musician who was a tenor soloist singing in a choir with 7 other members of his family as a young lad. He studied classical piano, pipe organ, harmony and theory He was gifted in playing the piano as a young boy and continues today.

As a young lad of 10 my father was a paid assistant organist for Trinity Anglican Church in Barrie, Ontario. From 1930 to 1940 m y father went with his father on a "circuit" around Barrie and Orillia as his regular accompanist on piano and pump organ. In the war years he played piano an d sang in a small band. After the war years he continued on with his music. He    was invited to perform at many clubs around the Toronto Ontario area.

In 1953 he moved to Montreal. He was transferred with Mays Steel from Toronto to Montreal as their salesman. He joined St. James the Apostle church and was their tenor soloist. While there he composed two classical type songs.1."Lament" based on a SwinBorne poem. 2. "A Baby's Eyes" that was sung by the soprano soloist at St. James in one of her concerts. My father was in attendance and received good acknowledgement.

While in attendance at St. James according to my father he sang "solo gigs" at weddings, parties and many other places. While my father was still with the St. James church choir he applied to study with a famous voice teacher Bernard Diamant who eventually took him on. That was quite an honor for Dad as Monsieur Diamante took only the best. My father had many opportunities and excelled in music. He took part in a Broadway musical and was a gifted musician in his own right. One of the Broadway musicals was "Carousel" where he met Marilyn Gardner who was an extra in the Broadway show "Carousel" as my father was at that time.

Besides the many accomplishments in his music career too numerous to mention here he went on and performed in many different music settings including directing the Police Department choir for seven years in the Toronto, Ontario area. He was hired by the Police Department in Toronto in 1972 as their Music Director and stayed until 1979.

Besides my fathers musical career he was quite interested in sports. He played rugby, hockey, tennis, baseball, softball and football. My dad enjoyed  skiing, swimming, diving and track and field. He was one of the first high jumpers in Barrie history to switch from the scissors style to the eastern layout.

Dad was a very popular young man in every area he was involved in whether it be music or sports. In this present day my father at the age of 80 is still very active in the community and still enjoys entertaining others with his music.

She is the only living member of the four sister's. She was the only girl out of the four who went to private school. She attended Loreto Academy in Hamilton, Ontario. She graduated in 1950.This was the same school where I would attend some years later .My aunt was famous for shrinking clothes. There was a family joke that if there was anything that needed shrinking just give it to Audrey. We as a family have had many a laughs about that .She always would put knitted items and other fine washables in the dryer when they should of been hung to dry, this is why she got her famous name for shrinking clothes.

Another trait of my aunt Audrey is she has kept a dairy about all of our family history an d also just about everything she has done in her life time about 60 years of information. There is a saying that if anyone needs to know something about the family, Ask Audrey to look it up in her dairy. Believe me, she has volumes of these little books just jam packed with family history.

She has a love for dogs and cats. She too as most of our family enjoys the great outdoors. My aunt and uncle have just returned from a trip {June 2002} to Newfoundland and went to Brigus the birth home of our grandmother and great-grandmother Julia Ann Morgan (Dawe-Ellis) .They travelled throughout the many places of interest of Newfoundland where our family have roots.

He decorated both the inside and outside of their home in Burlington, Ontario. He also put in a family size pool in their back yard. We as a family had many pool parties as we the children grew up in Hamilton. I remember going out to my aunt and uncles place for picnics and family gatherings for birthday parties. Every year the highlight was a big fire works display in their backyard for all the children. This was a great event that happened every Labour  Day weekend.

Uncle Paul was the one who designed and built their family home in Huntsville, Ontario. He has made their home a beautiful p lace for family to vacation at. He has received many a compliment about his beautiful home in Huntsville.

She has a warm personality who truly cares about other peoples feelings.

Lori has an outgoing personality who likes to surround herself with friends and family. She is always ready to lend a helping hand when she is needed.

Lori is the one in the family who shares the love for Family Genealogy as I have. She has researched her own family history including the Daw, Lockery and Morgan families and has completed a Family tree for each one.

This past summer Lori has shared family history with me as I too have completed a Family tree which is dated from 1650 in Ships Cove, NF to this present time. Lori helped fill in the missing pieces for our grandmother, Cora Myrtle Dawe's [Lockery] side of the family. I am very thankful as before she shared this data for the Lockery side of the family I had very little information to go on. With this data I now have it has helped fill in the many areas I lacked for the names and dates of my grandmother's family. I am very grateful to Lori for offering t he assistance she did and providing the data for getting this Lockery family tree completed.

71             iv.       Douglas Stanley Patterson, born July 19, 1961 in Hamilton, Ontario.  He married Jennifer Unknown in Edmonton, Alberta; born in Alberta.

Notes for Douglas Stanley Patterson:

Note: Douglas Stanley is the only boy born in the Patterson family and is my first cousin. He was the only grandson of Stanley and Cora Dawe. He was born into a family of three girls. His mother was one of four girls born herself. As you can imagine Doug was quite spoiled with being the only boy in the family.

Doug was born on his Aunt Margaret's, [my mother's birthday] July 19, 1961. Doug was always close to his auntie. They both had a very close relationship. It was maintained right up to his aunts death in 2001.There were many visits to his aunts home with his wife Jen before she passed away.

One of his last visits to his aunt in hospital was about ten days before she passed away. Doug came to Port Coquitlam to see his auntie with his wife Jen at that time. He came once again just hours before she passed into the presence of her Lord from the affects of colon cancer.

Doug shared the same love for golf that she had. Mom golfed for many years and only stopped playing because of the arthritis in her knees. It was quite difficult for Mom to walk long distances so in the end the game was put on hold.

Doug told Mom and our family that he would play a game of golf in memory of his "auntie". He would dedicate the first game of golf he played after Mom's death the following year when remembering her anniversary one year later. I know it would of meant quite a lot to her as Doug always had a special place in her heart.

Notes for Stanley John Scott:

Stan my miracle child a blessing from God was born as a premature infant who was just over 5 pounds. He had unlike his sister a head full of blond hair. He was small but wirily as my family doctor said to me just shortly after his birth." Wirily" means in the English dictionary 1.made of wire.2.like wire.3.lean, strong and tough. The description of "wirily" suits Stan to a "T". Right from the time when I brought Stan home from the hospital he always was a strong little tyke .He certainly had a small beginning but soon picked up and by the time he was 3 months old he was doing everything that babies do at that age. He was a good natured little boy. Right from the start Stan had a personality that had strong determination .I can now see this personality being the spring board for shaping and preparing him for his adult years. He never had a shy personality but was al ways outgoing. His grandmother and I would often have many a laugh over this little boy running up to a young child on the street and saying: "You wanna be my friend"? A short while later sure enough you would see him off playing with the child he had asked to be his friend. I believe Stan's personality has taken him to where he is today. I have appreciated his warm outgoing personality that has always given me encouragement and always lifted my spirits when they have     needed a lift. Stan has a way to bring cheer into any situation. Over the years Stan has brought much cheer and joy to my life. Like his sister he too has become my friend and the one in whom I can confide in.

Stan owns and operate s his own business from his home in British Columbia. Stan is a multi-talented young man who has produced many pieces of art through the sculpture of rock. His collection of Rock and Water concepts include backyard pond displays filled with exotic fish, tabletop water fountains for mantle places and so much more. Stan is able to sculpt a plain piece of rock into a work of art. He has done big and small features for offices and private homes. Besides the Rock and Water features, Stan has designed decorative retaining walls and rock climbing walls for both private homes and business. Stan has become very much in demand for this type of work. Yes, with his many talents he will go far with this business of Water and Rock Design.

83              ii.       Linda Margaret Scott, born November 23, 1973 in Hamilton, Ontario.  She married Darren John Brant August 06, 2000 in Rose Garden, Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby, BC; born February 22, 1972 in Powell River, BC.

Notes for Linda Margaret Scott:

Linda Margaret Scott was a blessing from God. Linda certainly was a miracle baby. She was born absolutely perfect. I will never forget the big grey-blue eyes wide open right from the time she was born. She had a full head of dark brown hair that was almost black. You would never know that today as she is naturally blond. She lost all the dark hair by the time she was 6 months old. Linda who likes to be called "Lynn" took after her grandmother when she was born. They both had dark almost black hair. Both of them became blond by the time they were 6 months of age. Lynn is a very loving caring young woman who always is ready to share a smile. Lynn has grown into a beautiful woman and developed a warm personality. She has developed from a personality that was shy and timid as a little girl who wouldn't leave her mother's side at any time to a beautiful young woman who is outgoing and able to speak her mind freely. She has always been noted for her quick wit and sense of  humor.  As an adult she has always been able to speak her mind and share what she is thinking. We as a family have had many laughs over Lynn being able to speak her mind and what has come out of her mouth at times. One thing for sure over the years I have had a good relationship with my daughter. We have done many things together and enjoyed each others company. Today she is not only my daughter but she is my best friend in whom I am able to confide in.

Source of Information: Provided by her mother Judith Arlene Scott {Mays-Bajkor}.

Darren her husband is an Engineer and Lynn a Legal Assistant in a Law Firm in South Vancouver. They both are career people who enjoy their work. Lynn is well suited for her position in Law as she has the ability to speak what is on her mind and is able to maintain a good sense of  humor which encourages a healthy environment to work in for both her employer and fellow peers.

Note: Linda Margaret Scott married Darren John Brant August 6, 2000 in the Rose Garden, Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby, BC.

It was a beautiful hot sunny day. The day was perfect for having an outdoor wedding. The orchestra was in fine tune playing soft music as the guests arrived. Lynn was a beautiful young bride wearing a long flowing off white gown. The happy couple said their wedding vows before many family members from far and near and many friends of both the bride and groom. The reception was held at the Burnaby Fire Fighters Social Athletic Club in Burnaby, BC. The wedding day for Lynn and Darren from start to finish was a picture perfect day. Lynn and Darren are a happy couple who are well suited for each other. They will have many happy years as husband and wife.

Notes for Darren John Brant:

Darren is more of a son than a son-in-law to me. I thank God for Darren and that he has become part of our family. I well remember the day Lynn introduced Darren to the family. It was on her birthday. We all were celebrating her special day at her grandmothers home. I liked Darren right from the start. He had and still does have a winning warm personality that everyone likes. He certainly won me over with his caring and outgoing personality. Darren has qualities that show genuine care and concern for his fellow man. He has a quiet and gentle spirit. He is laid-back and never allows anything to irritate or disturb him. He certainly is the peacemaker of the family. Wherever he goes he promotes harmony and unity. He has been so loving and supportive of me. I so appreciate Darren and all the things he has done for me and continues to do. He has not only brought happiness to me but has brought it to Lynn and to our whole family. The past 3+ years all of our lives have been enriched with Darren's presence in our family.

Note: Darren graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Engineering. He has done very well for himself and has achieved much in his young years. Darren is well suited for his career and is well liked by all who work with him. He certainly promotes harmony and unity in the workplace. Yes, Darren has made me very proud to call him "Son".

Notes for Audrey Tressam:

Note: My first cousin Audrey and I were very close and did many things together as we were only three years a part in age. We spent a lot of time together as little girls growing up in Hamilton, Ontario. I have quite a number of pictures of the both of us at the family home where both of our mothers grew up as young girls. Aunt Helen and my mother were only eighteen months a part and were very close and did many activities together with their daughters. As a consequence Audrey and I spent a great deal of time with each other. I remember all the fun we had when our mothers would take us to the beach for swimming and picnics. There are many pictures where we both were dressed like twins. I am sure this was a carry over from the days when both Aunt Helen Audrey's mother and my mother Margaret were dressed like twins by my grandmother Cora Dawe.

Note: Audrey w as always an honor roll student and always did very well in her studies. She attended Western University of London, Ontario. She obtained her degree in Physiotherapy. For many years she was the department head at the Hospital in Windsor, Ontario. The past several years she and another colleague have owned and operated their own practice in the Windsor area. Notes for Judith Arlene Scott:

Judith Arlene Scott {Mays-Bajkor} was the only daughter born to Harvey Harry May s and Margaret Irene Dawe. I was raised in a loving home by my mother and my grandparents, Stanley and Cora Dawe when my parents separated when I was two and a half years of age. At that time I went to live in Hamilton Ontario in the family home at 73 Hyde Park Avenue, the home where my mother and aunts were raised.

It was a home where I was nurtured with much love, care, support and guidance. At the tender age of five I can remember my grandmother walking with me each day to kindergarten. I remember being a very shy little girl and was very nervous attending school. My grandmother was kind and sensitive to the fact of my timidity and nervousness on that first day of school. Each day we would walk to school and my grandmother would sing, skip and play games with me. She made       attending school a fun thing to do. Before long I was enjoying school and got over my nervousness.

My grandfather was the one who taught me how to tie my own shoe laces. We were a close knit family that did everything together. I can look back and remember all the fun times I had with my grandparents and the wonderful summer vacations at the family cottage in the northland of Ontario. I was given so much support and learned much from them throughout my life and early growing up years.

The music background I inherited from my father and grandparents was also encouraged by my grandmother Cora Dawe as she too had a love for music.  In her younger days she learned to play the piano. She loved to sing and I remember sitting at her feet singing with her. I sang in the choir of Melrose United Church in Hamilton Ontario and was involved in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior choirs. This is where I really enjoyed myself.

I thank God for my Christian heritage roots that have been passed down to me through my family. My l ife has been enriched by the influence of my families nurturing, care, love,  teaching and acceptance that was given during my growing up years in Hamilton, Ontario.

Notes for Alex- Andre Bajkor:

Note:Alex-Andre was born in a small town that bordered France. He had a career in Knife Carving. In the Public Library there is a Book called "The Gun Digest"; Book of Knives 2nd Edition, On page 177 there is a story written about Andre` .In that chapter it tells about Andre's` interests and all about his career in Knife Carving.

Note: Andre enjoyed any kind of hunting and especially liked to hunt deer. He was a man who was very keen on Sports and the outdoors.

Note: I remember him as being quite talented in Art, he was able to sketch just about anything. Before we were married I remember him with a sketch book and artist pencil designing my wedding dress. We discussed what I was wanting for my dress and he took a pencil and sketch book and began to draw an outline of the dress I described. By the time he finished drawing the outline and filling it in he ha d pretty well drawn the dress I had described to him. It was amazing the talent he had. If we had more time before our wedding date I am sure Andre would of designed my dress and had it made for me. He was a very talented young man when we first met. This is what first attracted me to Andre.

Another note of interest was most of his friends called him Andre but his family as far as I can remember would always call him "Alex".

Notes for Thomas David Harry Scott:

Thomas Scott adopted Judith Arlene Bajkor's children at point of marriage. He adopted both Stanley John and Linda Margaret in 1975 after marriage. Tom was a good father who really loved his children. Not many men would take on someone else' s children and be willing to adopt them and make them his own. He did have a heart of gold. Thomas worked at Dofasco steel company in the blast furnace for many years in Hamilton, Ontario. At one time he and his dad David Scott worked at Dofasco at the same time. Dofasco was very famous for their Christmas parties for the families of their employees. They put on excellent parties for the children. There were gifts for the children and their parents including a big box of      goodies and fruit for each one who worked for Dofasco. This was a highlight for the year for all the families who had loved ones working at Dofasco.

Notes for Linda Margaret Scott:

Linda Margaret was born on a sunny cold day November 23, 1973 in Hamilton, Ontario. This is a day I will never forget as long as I will live. It was such a joyous occasion. With great anticipation I arrived at Henderson General Hospital to have my precious baby. In those days you never knew in advance what sex of the baby was going to be. I just knew I was going to have my baby and the baby was going to be healthy.

I was quite anxious to get into the labor and delivery room to have my baby. I wanted my baby and was anxious to hold this precious soul in my arms. After a few hours I was able to do just that and was a very happy young mother of a beautiful baby girl.  I now had a complete family, a boy and a girl. What more could a mother want. Lynn had big blue -grey eyes and a full head of hair that was almost black .She took after her grandmother as she too was born with a full head of black hair. It wasn't until Lynn became 6 months old that she lost all that black hair. After that she had a full head of blond curly hair. To this day Lynn has never lost her blond hair .Her eyes are still  beautiful. Her eyes are now a blue-green color. I remember Lynn's big eyes in the delivery room as they were wide open looking right at me. She never closed those eyes from the time she was born until she left my side going to the nursery to get washed and dressed to be ready to be shown off to her relatives thru the nursery room window.

Right from the start I knew it was going to be a special relationship I would have with my daughter .In spite of the   early months of colic in which she cried quite a lot and was generally not happy with all the gas pain she had, she did eventually get over it and she developed a personality that was a quiet and caring kind of attitude.

As a little girl I can remember the love she had for me and her other family members .She was a sensitive little girl who liked to hug and kiss you and liked to be touched. Lynn always wanted to be close by my side. She was a shy but caring and sensitive little girl right from the start that always wanted to stay close to her mot her. We did just about everything together through her growing up years. I think that is why Lynn and I get on so well with each other today.

All of these qualities have stayed with Lynn all through her growing up years and today she is an outgoing young woman who gets along with everyone and is a sensitive woman to other peoples needs. Lynn has lost her shyness and is not afraid to share he r thoughts and feelings with others. Lynn has developed long lasting friendships with a couple of good friends and she is a loyal friend to them. Lynn is now able to use those qualities of care, sensitivity and concern with others in her work place as a Legal Assistant with a Law Firm here in Vancouver. I am so proud of my girl who has become my best friend and someone who I can confide in when needed.

Note: Linda Margaret married Darren Brant in the Rose Garden on Burnaby Mountain, August 6, 2000.

Notes for Darren John Brant:

Note: Darren John came into our lives a few years ago through meeting my daughter Linda Margaret who prefers to be called "Lynn". He has brought so much joy t o not only Lynn but to all of our family. Darren is what you would call a peace maker of the family. Whenever Darren comes into a room he always brings peace and joy. Darren has so many positive qualities that always stands out in a group of people. He has a warm and outgoing personality that reaches out to others.

Darren has shown so much kindness and love to me all through the years I have known him. He is always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. He is always ready to go the extra mile with never a complaint. His cheery attitude is always welcome no matter where he goes. Darren and Lynn both have been willing to offer assistance by picking me up with the car for shopping trips and many other outings. They are both able to help with my wheelchair and never complain. Darren always has a smile on his face. I can't remember ever seeing Darren without a smile. He is never grumpy or out of sorts. I really thank God for Darren. He certainly has brought so much joy and cheer to our household since he came into our lives a few years ago I have often told Darren he is more of a son to me than a son-in-law. I consider Darren a son who has brought joy, peace and contentment to my life.

        68.  Janice Lynn7 Patterson (Audrey Doreen6 Dawe, Stanley5, William4, William3, Samuel2, Unknown1) was born October 16, 1954 in Hamilton, Ontario.  She married Terry Jackson in Hamilton, Ontario, son of Unknown Jackson and UNKNOWN Unknown.  He was born in Hamilton, Ontario.

Notes for Janice Lynn Patterson:

Note: Janice Lynn is my first cousin. She and I were very close and did many things together. The one thing that really stands out and often brings much laughter by the whole family is the times both Jan and I played ping pong. Even to t his day when I am talking on the telephone with family they always bring up the time when Jan and I had our ping pong tournament in the family home in Burling ton, Ontario. This is where my family would gather to share many Christmas       dinners. We were always a very close knit family who did many things together. I was quite close to Jan and her other sisters and one brother.

The one thing t hat stands out for sure when it came to playing ping pong neither one of us would become ping pong champions. That is for sure. We both were not very sports minded. We were not co-ordinated for starters. We both were very clumsy in our actions when it came to playing this game called ping pong. We couldn't make a connection with the bat and the ball no matter how hard we tried.

I am sure we were quite a site to be seen. With our ping pong bats in hand we would take the ball and serve it to each other. This is where the fun began. She would take a swing at the ball and sometimes she would hit the ball but more than enough times she didn't. I was just the same. We would go back and forth for what seemed like forever with everyone laughing including the two of us. We both put a lot in to the game always with great determination we would swing as hard as we could and would hope to hit that ball. When we did make connection with the ball it would be hit with such force that the ball would be sent across the room sometimes just missing someone's head. Every time the ball was hit everyone would take cover hoping their heads wouldn't be hit. This brought much laughter from every one in the family room.

To this day my Aunt Audrey always brings up this subject about the days when Jan and I would play ping pong. We were given the name of the "Ping pong champions" for Christmas family gatherings. Every time we went to my aunt and uncles home for Christmas they always had that ping pong table set up in the family room for us to play.

This past Christmas day [2002] I talked to my family in Huntsville, Ontario and we had a laugh about this game that was played so many years ago. My aunt said they were planning on having a ping pong tournament. It was going to be in our honor  of times past when both Jan and I would entertain our family. It certainly brought a lot of laughter in the background from everyone there at my cousins place.

I have fond memories of attending Donna and her husbands home for many Christmas dinners after she was married to Nick. She always had a wonderful spread of food and made everyone feel welcome. She certainly had the gift of hospitality. We have always been a very close knit family who shared many family activities.

Generation No. 7

        91.  Stanley John8 Scott (Judith Arlene7, Margaret Irene6 Dawe, Stanley5, William4, William3, Samuel2, Unknown1) was born January 25, 1970 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  He married Jodie Lakustra, daughter of Unknown Lakustra and Ann Lakustra.  She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Notes for Stanley John Scott:

Note: Stanley John Scott and Jodie Lakustra had one daughter Bailey Judith Ann Lakustra. Stanley John Scott did not marry Jodie Lakustra.

Stanley John Scott was born on a beautiful sunny day in Hamilton, Ontario January 25, 1970. He w as born one month premature at 5 pounds. I remember the doctor saying Stanley John was tiny but wirily. In spite of his smallness he had strength to his tiny hands. He would grab my fingers and hold on tight. He wasn't letting go for any thing. Right from the start Stan was a good natured little boy. He always smiled and never cried only when he was hungry. He was always full of cheer and never had a day that he was fussy. Even in teething Stan never cried. He was content and happy to suck on his teething ring. He was the type of baby you could put down on a blanket with toys and one who was always content to play with whatever you gave him. He never complained about what you gave him to play with.

S tan has always been a good natured young boy who grew up being sensitive to other people's feelings. He was the one who always had a word that made you laugh and forget about your cares and worries. Stan has always had an outgoing personality. He can come into a room and bring much cheer and joy to just about any situation one would find themselves in. You cannot be sad for long with Stan around. He is a young man who truly brings much joy when you are in his presence.

I can remember Stan as a young outgoing little boy who was never afraid to make new friends. In the early days we moved a few times and Stan with his outgoing personality would run up to a complete stranger and ask the boy or girl the following question "You wanna be my Friend" and sure enough a short time later you would see both Stan and his new found friend he had just met playing and having a great time.

As family we have often had a laugh or two of all the times when Stan would run up the street and introduce himself to fellow peers an d ask them to be his friends. Stan never lacked for friends. He is still the same today but a little wiser in how he approaches the people he wishes to befriend. As an adult he has developed much artistic talent and has done very well in starting his own business here in British Columbia. I am sure his outgoing personality has helped him in obtaining many contracts for his business.

He own s and operates his own Rock and Water Scaping business. Stan can sculpt just about any piece of rock and make something that is drab into a beautiful piece of art. He makes rock and water features for fireplace mantles, table top water    features complete with a waterfall, rock and water fountains with ponds for private homes and has built rock climbing walls and does just about anything that is possible for a Water and Rock Scaping business.
