Introduction

Wolfgang SCHOEFFEL came to America in 1853 arriving on 22 Oct 1853 on the ship, Emma. The ship left from Bremen, Germany and landed in Baltimore, Maryland. His age was listed as 19 and his occupation was a weaver. He settled in Massillon, Ohio and married in 1862 to Christina WINOLD. The records, written in German, at what used to be St. John's Lutheran Church in Massillon, listed the name as SCHOEFFEL, SCHEFFLER, and SHEFFLER, all on the same page.
