Introduction
| The JAHNKE origins are in what used to be Eat Germany, in the Mechlenburg-Schwerin area. The village of Alt Jabel is located just the other side of the former border. There are several variations of the name: JANECKEN, JAHNECKE, JANCKE, JAHNCKE and JANCKE. One of the ancestors was killed with an ax in his sleep. An unnamed son-in-law was named as one of the suspects. I believe that makes one ancestor a possible ax murderer :) |
