            G. Dewey Strohbeck
              dies at age 87

                George Dewey Strohbeck, 87, of Rural Route, Shipman, died at 4:04 a.m. Sunday,
            March 24 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
                Born Feb. 23, 1898 in Brighton Township, he was a son of the late Theodore L.
            and Luella Eddington Strohbeck.  He was married Dec. 18, 1923 in Woodburn to Mary
            Edith Elliott, who survives.  He was a lifelong resident of the Brighton Township
            area and was a farmer.
                He is survived by his wife, Edith; one son, Donald D. Strohbeck of St. Louis;
            one sister, Myrtle Graul of Brighton and one brother, Kenneth C. Strohbeck of
            St. Louis.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Newell H.,
            Earl W. and Roy H.
                Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) from Jacoby-Wise
            Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, the Rev. Leroy Fahnestock officiating.  Burial will be
            in Woodburn Cemetery.
                The Woodburn Congregational Church has been named as a memorial fund.
