            Bernice Strohbeck

                FOSTERBURG -- Bernice Strohbeck, 89, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, 
            Nov. 20, 1999, at Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
                Born Nov. 15, 1910, in Sadoro, she was a daughter of the late George 
            Marion and Fannie (Flaharty) Thompson.
                She married Ralph Strohbeck in 1943 in Alton.  He preceded her in death 
            Sept. 16, 1990.
                Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Mary Strohbeck of 
            Alton; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lois and Lee Harrelson of Brighton 
            and Aldyth Gail and John Summers of Jerseyville; and a sister, Lela Caulkins 
            of Lewiston.
                Three brothers, Loran, John and Ben Thompson, two sisters, Bertha 
            Johnson and Letha Johnson, and two grandchildren, Darrell Strohbeck and 
            Mark Crowe precended her in death.
                Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in 
            Alton, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday.  The Rev. Regan 
            Gibbs will officiate.
                Memorials may be made to Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg, where 
            she was a member.
