            "Vic" Strohbeck dies at age 79

               George Victor "Vic" Strohbeck, 79, died at his residence at 1 p.m. 
            Monday, Dec. 19.
               Born Sept. 25, 1904 in Brighton, he was a son of the late George A. 
           and Amy Deck Strohbeck.  He was married June 22, 1928 in East Alton to 
           Beulah Gentry, who survives.
               Also surviving are four daughters, Marjorie Hall of Wood River, Ruth 
           Champlin of Bethalto, Dorothy Kasinger of Rosewood Heights and Ann Reichert 
           of Tucker, Ga; 14 grandchildren; nine-great-grandchildren; two sisters, 
           Edna Graul and Esther Boker, both of Alton; and one brother, Ralph Strohbeck 
           of Fosterburg.
               He was retired as a supervisor of Owens-Illinois Glass Co.
               Funeral services were held Thursday from the United Methodist Church 
           in Bunker Hill, the Rev. Joseph Evers and the Rev. Jeff Jahn officiating.  
           Masonic services were held Wednesday at Jacoby-Wise Funeral Home by the 
           Franklin Masonic Lodge #25 AF & AM.
               Burial was in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto.
