            George Strohbeck, Fosterburg, Dies

                FOSTERBURG, March 17, (Special.)--George Strohbeck, 64, a life-long 
            resident of the Fosterburg area, died at 5 p. m., Wednesday at Alton Memorial 
            Hospital.  He had been in ill health for several weeks.
                He went to Alton 10 days ago to the home of a son, Victor Strohbeck, 
            755 Park drive.  He was taken to the hospital Sunday, when his condition 
            became alarming.
                Strohbeck was born June 19, 1873, on a farm near here and spent his entire 
            life here except for six years in the Brighton vicinity.  On Feb. 16, 1898, he 
            married Amy Deck, who survives him.  He also is survived by two daughters and 
            three sons: Mrs. Edna Graul, Mrs. Esther Boker and Victor Strohbeck, all of 
            Alton; Ralph Strohbeck of Fosterburg, and Walter Strohbeck of Wood River.  He 
            also leaves three brothers and two sisters.
                Funeral rites are scheduled for 1:30 Sunday afternoon at the residence and 
            at 2 p. m., at the Presbeyterian church here.  Burial will be in Fosterburg 
            cemetery.  The body may be viewed at the home after 2 p. m., Saturday.
