FERGERSON CEMETERY, COLEMAN COUNTY, TEXAS
This is an old family cemetery located on the Mary I. Dunman Ranch north of Novice, very near the Callahan County line, west of the Novice - Oplin road, and could possibly be in Callahan County. It is inaccessible to normal traffic. The cemetery itself is very small and is enclosed by a well-made cut rock wall several feet high. As the cattle have not been able to graze inside this rock wall, it is very overgrown. There could be other unmarked graves.
The cemetery is thought to be located
in D. F. Roddan Survey #100. Part of the land was granted to Mrs.
J. S. Fergerson by the state of Texas; another part to D. F. Roddan, who
sold this land to W. N. Kelley, who sold it to Mrs. J. S. Fergerson.
It was passed on down in this family and later sold to J. P. Morris, father
of Mary I. (Morris) Dunman.
