BEVANS GRAVE, COLEMAN COUNTY, TEXAS

This grave is located on the Joe C. Brooke farm, on the north bank of Hords Creek, just south of the junction with Jim Ned Creek.  Just across the creek (south) there was a stage relay station in the 1860's and later.  The grave was originally covered with large flat rocks, but about 1927, the son of the deceased had the grave covered with cement and a marker incorporated into this cement work.

BEVANS, William - (born 1840, Ireland) - died 1861 - "Father of William Bevans, Menard, Tex"
