Gwyn BARKER: Had correspondence with Mrs. Vanderpool of Auburn, NE (born 1885 as a CLEVENGER) who remembers her father telling of conversation with Merriman O'DELL who said his grandmother was a CLEVENGER. She also was well acquainted with the daughter of Merriman O'DELL. Gwyn has photo of grave stone, obituary copies, copies of court records concerning suit filed on behalf of his daughter, Nora, copies of 3 deeds; copy of affidavit signed by M. C. for pension of William Preston COOTS. She got information from family records and conversation with Oatis O'DELL. Marriage record found in Holt County Court House, page 78; wedding was at bride's home in Craig, MO. The family belonged to the Christian Church. M. C. was called "Judd" or "Judge" at times, and was constable of Craig, MO, for many years. He was over 6 feet tall and had a red mustache. His wife was only 5 feet tall.

The Nemaha County Herald, 22 Sep 1922: "AGED COUPLE CELEBRATE THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING; Mr. and Mrs. M. C. O'DELL celebrated their golden wedding on last Friday having been married in Holt Co, MO, 8 Sep 1872. They lived there until 15 years ago when they came to Nemaha Co. since which time they have lived in Auburn and vicinity. They are the parents of 13 children, 7 of whom have passed away. The surviving children are: Joseph ODELL of Bigelow, MO; Mrs. Della GUILLIAMS of Falls City; S.C. ODELL of Brownville; Mrs. J. L. STOVALL of Craig, MO; Mrs. Elmer PARKER, Mrs. Charles CLARKE and Mrs. Robert CLARKE of Auburn. They also have 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Owing to the condition of Mrs. O'DELL's health the golden wedding day was observed quietly but they received not only the congratulations of their children but of their many friends. Their children presented them with a sum of money in gold. Mr. and Mrs. ODELL are highly respected people and the many friends who congratulate them upon having attained the 50th anniversary of their marriage, also wish the added years of happiness in the companionship of each other."     G. BARKER: Cora died young. She had a gall bladder attack, and while in pain, she fell down the stairs.

    Gone Home II: "Died Saturday 26 March, Hazel Lee, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judd ODELL, aged 1 year and 2 days. The funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Sunday by Elder Tandy. Interment took place at the Guilliams Cemetery This makes the 4th child Mr. and Mrs. ODELL have lost of their family of 13. Elder Tandy also preached the funeral of another child at the same hour ..." (The Craig Leader, 2 Apr 1897)
