Jane WALKER, 8 years, born MO, father born MO, mother born WA Territory; listed as daughter, but I believe she is actually a granddaughter.

Holt Co SENTINEL, 22 Jun 1888: "William POTTER, an old citizen of this county, died at his home in Chesney neighborhood on Thursday of last week, and was buried in the Oregon cemetery on Friday. He was about sixty years of age."

From Eileen DERR: "William came from KY to MO by ox team and settled on the MO River near Iowa Point, KS. The river flooded Feb 1867, so he moved further from river onto 80 Acres. William went to CA by ox team in 1849 and stayed near San Francisco a few years. Then, he went to homestead in Portland, OR; he was chased to the fort by Indians, so got on a boat on the Columbia River and returned to San Francisco, CA. From there he took a boat to the Isthmus of Panama; he crossed somehow and took another boat to NY. Then returned to MO."

Marriage record, Holt Co, MO; Book A, page 24: "William POTTER and Martha Jane PARKER, married on 4 Apr 1844". Also have marriage license for William and Sarah.

Have copy of William's will; heirs listed as wife, Sarah POTTER; grandchildren, Ida HENDRICKS and Timmy Jane WALKER; children, William POTTER, Sarah STEVENS, Jane WALKER and Cordelia (Corda) ANDERSON. William signed with X; his widow, Sarah was the executrix.

As noted in John POTTER estate file: William POTTER and Martha Jane bought 39.76 Acres from John POTTER; deed, as noted below.

Death Certificate Information: Sarah E. POTTER, born 17 Nov 1836, OH; died 11 Dec 1933, Forest City, Holt, MO. Sarah was 97 years, 24 days old at her death, was the widow of William POTTER, and her father was David ADAMS. The cause of her death was Bronchitis. The informant was Mrs. John ANDERSON, of Forest City. Sarah was buried at Oregon, Holt, MO, with Lester Pettyjohn in charge of arrangements.

Gone Home: Sarah ws the mother of 8 children and step-mother of 14 children. Family descendants are not certain of the given name of Sarah's father. Her mother, Mary, re-married to a Mr. DICKSON and is buried in the Six Corners Cemetery, near Elmo, MO.
