Fergus HOLMES and his Descendants

Source: Willard HOLMES, 1994. From a published biographical sketch on Daniel and Mary HOLMES: Daniel was "one of six sons and five daughters of Fergus Graham and Agnus HOLMES. Fergus HOLMES was a native of North Carolina, where his father had emigrated to from his native land, the Emerald Isle."

A type-written HOLMES family biography says: "Fergus HOLMES", the first HOLMES we have any record of, was born in Ireland. One record says Cork, another Dublin. The date he came to America is not known. He settled in North Carolina. W. S. HOLMES III was a great-great-grandson of Fergus HOLMES."

I have been unable to find any other documentation for this Fergus, but he is the right age to be a brother to Robert HOLMES, born 1756 in Ireland.
