A Joseph ESGET is listed with Francis, Jr. and Jabez on War of 1812 service records. Joseph was in 20th Regiment (Allen's) NY Militia as a Sergeant. Who was he? Hanks family data indicates "John ESGETT" married Mary HANKS. However, census records for Francis, Sr. show only 3 sons and 1 daughter. No record of a John ESGETT. Birth from Heads of Families at First US CENSUS, volume 51, page 156.
Penfield's Past, 1810-1960, by Katherine Wilcox Thompson, 1960: page 169: Francis ESGATE, Sr. is listed as Revolutionary soldier buried in Oakwood Cemetery. However, neither of us can find any record of him in Revolutionary War records. Military Burials, Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield, Monroe Co, NY: "Francis ESGET, Sr.; Location C; lot 426; born 1756; Rev War; died 1830 aged 74; private tombstone; can't locate military record. Frances ESGET purchased cemetery lot." Visited cemetery in July 2006 and took photos. There is a a common gravestone that reads, "Francis ESGET, Sr., aged 74 years." Francis married
