1834, 1835, 1836.
1820 CENSUS, Floyd Co, KY, #37: Levi POTTER, 1 male 10-16; 1 male 26-44; 2 females under 10;
1 female 16-26. (Betty JACKSON says 1 female 16-18)
1830 CENSUS, Clay Co, KY, page 1: Livi POTTER, 2 males under 5; 1 male 5-10; 1 male 10-15;
1 male 30-40; 2 females 5-10; 1 female 10-15; 1 female 30-40. (This could be Benjamin born
1826 and 1 other; William, born 1822; John, born 1815; Levi, born 1798; Lydia, born 1825; Sarah,
born 1820; Jane, born 1794. There is a gap between 1822 and 1825 where there could have
been another female child. Susan may not show up because she wasn't born until about 1831 and
young Levi was born 1835.)
1840 CENSUS, Monroe Co, IN, page 69: Levi POTTER, 1 male under 5 (Abraham born 1836); 1 male
5-10 (Levi born 1834); 2 males 10-15 (Benjamin born 1826 and Unknown); 1 male 15-20 (William
born 1822); 1 male 50-60 (Levi born 1790); 1 female 5-10 (Susan born 1831); 1 female 15-20
(Lydia born 1825); 1 female 40-50 (Jane born 1794).
If the 1830 CENSUS is correct, there may be other children in this family that I haven't listed.
Levi purchased estate sale items, 16 May 1835, Clay Co, KY.
KY Land Grants: Levi POTTER purchased 50 Acres, Clay Co, 17 Jul 1836; Book 16, page 148, Clay
Co, Burning Springs Fork. Levi is mentioned in 1837 as a commissioner in connection with land
record #403, Clay Co, KY, Deed Book B. This is the last record of him in KY.
The POTTERS and HOLLINGSWORTHS went from Ashe Co, NC to Clay Co, KY. Benjamin stayed in Clay
Co through 1840, but there is no trace of Levi. Some of the HOLLINGSWORTHS went to Morgan Co,
IN. John POTTER was there in 1837, where he married Mary LONG. John' sister, Sarah POTTER
and Eli ASHER were married in Morgan Co. in 1838 (Eli's father had property there.) Levi is
shown on the 1840 CENSUS in Monroe Co, IN with his wife and all unmarried children. The following
year, Levi and Jane were present and gave consent at daughter, Lydia's marriage to James
HALLSA, 8 Oct 1841, Chariton Co, MO. They were listed as residents of Chariton Co This is
last known about them.
A William POTTER married Theulah (Hulah) MORGAN, 26 Sep 1841, Chariton Co, MO, in presence of
Martin MORGAN and Bethlehem Ellis by William Elston, M.G. Is he ours? Did our William actually
have 3 marriages? (Martin MORGAN: 1830 CENSUS, 2-0-0-0-0-1;0-0-0-0-1)
There was also a John POTTER in Chariton Co in 1830, who is he? (1830 CENSUS, 0-0-0-0-1; 0-0-0-1).
And a Joshua POTTER in 1830, (2-1-1-1-0-0-1; 1-1-1-1-0-1). Joshua is still in Chariton
Co (on page 49) in 1840, but John is not on census.
Several POTTERS are shown as Taxpayers in NC: Robt. the earliest, 1741, NewH Co; also in same
county are Robert, 1762 and Miles, 1763. (Hollingsworths are also in NewH. Co at the same time.)

Source: LDS Ancestral File, 1999. There is no proof that Levi POTTER'S wife was named "Jane".
However, this is the name used by most researchers.
According to the Chariton Co, MO marriage record of Lydia POTTER and James HALLSA, Jane was present
at the marriage on July 2, 1841. No further record found of either Jane or Levi.
Betty JACKSON's Holly Tree: says Jane was born 1774, Wilkes Co, NC; died 1801-1868, Clay Co,
KY; md 1795, NC. She gives the children of Jane and Levi POTTER as follows: unknown, born 1811;
unknown, born 1811-1819; unknown, born 1815-1820; unknown, born 1820; unknown, born 1820-25;
unknown, born 1820-25; unknown, born 1820-25; unknown, born 1826-30.

20 Feb 1869; Benjamin POTTER bought land from E. M. Clark; Book E, page 159. This was the fractional
three of Southwest quarter of Section 30 line in Twp N, Section North of Range #1, West
of the Mount Diablo Meridian.
10 Jul 1871; Benjamin POTTER sold land to Jacob LOUX, Book E, page 618. This was the Fractional
numbered three of the SW quarter of Section 33 in Twp 16, North Range, 1 West. It consisted
of 22.82 acres. The price was $875 in gold coin,
Death information from C. KENT; grave stone gives age as 45 years, 5 months, and 27 days.
A Benjamin POTTER was in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He served as a private in
Company G, 12th MO Cavalry. Is he ours?

1870 CENSUS, Butte Twp, Colusa Co, CA, 29 Jul, 1870: Abraham POTTER, 34 years, born MO, $350,
laborer. Living with him are Oscar and Sarah E. STEPHENS, Minnie STEPHENS, and Edmund Chestnut.
Abraham is living next to Eli HOLSEY and his family, plus Levi POTTER and his family.

and his brother, Benjamin owned land along the Sacramento River.)
