Oregon Death Certificate No. 1042: Mrs. Julia S. BLOOD, born 29 August 1843, OH; died 7 Sep 1905, Yamhill Co, Oregon. Julia was a widow and the daughter of W. FITCH and Harriet LEWIS. She was 62 years, and 8 days of age when she died from unknown causes. The informant listed is Horace B. BLOOD, Ogden, Utah. Julia was buried at Carlton, 8 Sep 1905, by Culver Funeral Home, McMinnville. (We have never located Julia's grave.)

Obituary: "Julia S. FITCH was born in Sheffield about twenty-five miles from Cleveland, Ohio, on August 30 1832. In 1872, she removed to California. In April, 1874 she was married to B. F. BLOOD. In 1885 she came to Oregon where she has since resided. Early in life she converted and united with the Congregational Church, doing a humble work for her Savior. A Sunday school teacher for many years. In September, 1891 she was baptized into the Carlton Baptist Church. Her membership at the time of her death was with the First Baptist Church of Ogden, Utah.
She died September 7, 1905, leaving a son, Reverend B. F. BLOOD, of Ogden, Utah, an adopted daughter, Mrs. J. W. SCOTT, of Carlton, two brothers, H. G. and C. W. FITCH, of Washington County, Oregon, with many friends to mourn her.
Her funeral occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. SCOTT, with whom she resided, September 8, 1905, conducted by Reverend W. E. McCutcheon, of Carlton."

Portland City Directory, 1888: Benjamin F. BLOOD, blacksmith for J. Honeyman and Company; boards at 44 Jefferson.

Veterans Schedule, Lafayette Precinct, Yamhill Co, Oregon, 1890: Benjamin F. BLOOD served as a private in Company I, Sixteenth Iowa Infantry from October 15, 1864 to June 15, 1865. He served a total of eight months. Benjamin enlisted at eighteen years of age, starting on November 25, 1864. He was mustered out on June 20, 1865, at Clinton, Iowa.

Civil War Pension Index: Benjamin F. BLOOD, Company I, Sixteenth Iowa Infantry. Benjamin filed as an invalid on July 10, 1897 in Oregon; Application No. 1,194,142. His widow, Julia S. BLOOD, filed for a widow's pension in Oregon on August 24, 1900; Application No. 725,319; Certificate No. 520,922. This was done through Attorney J. W. Morris.

United States Patent Office: Benjamin F. BLOOD, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Julia S. BLOOD, Administratrix of said Benjamin F. BLOOD, deceased. On April 5, 1900 Benjamin filed for a Patent for "certain new and useful Improvements in Swage-Blocks". The Serial Number was 99,973.
