THE GERMAN BAKER (BECKER) FAMILIES

 OF SHELBY COUNTY, INDIANA

THE INFORMATION GIVEN ON THESE FAMILIES CAN NOT BE CONSIDERED AS DOCUMENTED.  As always, "Check it out before accepting it as fact".

These are only "working notes" from a researcher.

 She is actively researching these Becker and connected families.

  Some of these German "Baker" families were actually "Becker" families, but most, if not all of the Shelby County records list them as Baker.  I have included them because this can be confusing to Baker researchers. Some may have been Bakers from Germany.

  George Michael Becker (Born 11 Mar. 1811, died 5 Sept. 1845) was married to Catharina Westerman (Born 3 Mar. 1810, died 24 Aug. 1879).  They had a daughter Margaret born 13 Mar. 1837 in Moerzheim, Rheinpfalz, Bayern, Germany and died in Union Township 15 Sept. 1922.  Margaret married Valentine Posz on 9 Mar. 1854.  Valentine was born in Bayern (Bavaria)  15 Jan. 1820 and came to the US through New York in 1852.  He died 26 May 1919.  His parents were John Adam Posz and Margaret Shoemaker.  George and Catharina also had a son who died at a young age-  Johann Heinrich or John Henry Becker born 12 Jul. 1840 and died 4 Oct. 1850.

  Conrad Becker was born 20 Jan 1803 and died 6 Oct 1848.  Conrad married Margaret Haehl who was born 19 May 1805 and died 6 Apr 1878.  They had a daughter, Margaret, born in Moerzheim 8 Apr 1831 and died 9 Feb 1888 in Union Township.  She married Jacob Theobold on 28 Nov 1848.  He is the son of Georg Michael Theobold and Maria Catharina Haehl.

  Conrad Becker's full name is Johann Konrad Becker and he is the son of Johann Heinrich Becker and Barbara Kopf.  Conrad's wife is Anna Margaretha Haehl and she is the daughter of Georg Michael Haehl and Anna Sibilla Schwartz. He is the older brother of George Michael who married Catherina Westerman.

Catherine Baker and her children Margaret and Henry are Beckers from Moerzeim, Germany. 

George Kepple's wife is Mary Catharine Becker .  Jann has information on the Keppel family. No further information on the family of Mary Catherine.

Jacob Yarling and wife, Margaret Baker. No further records.

Jacob Theobald's wife is Margaret Becker.  John Henry Becker is her father and Margaret (Haehl) Becker is Margaret's mother.
