REBECCA SIMPSON: NOTE: Rebecca was the widow
of Thomas Archer. They had sons, William Marion, Benjamin, and James.
Her son, Benjamin, in
1860, was living with James and Rebecca Gilmore in Barton County,
Missouri. Benjamin was a
Bushwacker at the beginning of the Civil War. Later he enlisted in the
Union Army at Ft. Scott, KS. on 3 Oct. 1863. He deserted 26 Feb. 1865 in
Arkansas. Rebecca Simpson Archer
Gilmore applied for benfits from son Benjamin's service in the Union Army
