The Family of Joseph Wiley Mathis (1872-1936)


Joseph Wiley Mathis (1872-1936) was a
carpenter/contractor by trade and married his wife, Eva Ellen McMullen
(1886-1935) at the relatively mature age of 38 years in 1910. Pictured
above is Joseph and his family at the front of their Texarkana, Arkansas
home. Pictured l. to r. is oldest daughter, Sally Cleo (1912-1992), Joseph and wife Eva Ellen. Standing in front is
younger daughter Dorothy Lou (1922-2000) and her
brother, Lloyd Victor (1919-2000).
Pictured below are the three Mathis children, Dorothy Lou
(Mathis) Childress, Lloyd Victor Mathis and Sally Cleo (Mathis)
Jones.

Pictured below are the three children (Dorothy Lou, Lloyd Victor
and Sally Cleo) and Sally's husband, Anson Lee Jones (1905-1986). Lloyd
served in the "Flying Tigers" under the command General Claire Lee
Chennault in
China during World War II, while Anson served in the Navy. The following
photographs are of Lloyd Mathis and wife Julia (Ratliff) Mathis (b. 1922) in the
left photo,
then Sally and husband Anson Jones (right photo).
