Jost Family Guestbook

2010-11-20  -  Lee Turner.  My great, great grandfather was Adam Gottlieb Haupt born in Jost on 25 Nov 1876 and was the son of Gottleb Haupt & Maria (Meisner) Haupt (where my search currently ends). Adam married Christina Margaretha Ring (born in Jost on 27 Aug 1874) on 8 Sep 1898. Christina's fathers name was Adam Ring and her mothers name was Katherine Elizabeth Ruby (trail ends there as well#. Adam and his brother Peter arrived in the U.S. in 1902 via Canada and Christina and Adam's mom Maria followed a few months later - Maria was a widow by then so I am assuming her husband Gottlieb died in Jost. If anyone has any information on these families or Jost vital statistics in the late 1800's #1875-1902) I would like to hear from you.

2010-10-11 -  Keith Siebert.  My great grandparents(Phillip Dauer and Mary Elizabeth(Jacoby)Dauer came to the U.S. in 1902. They first settled in Arlington,Minn.,but later moved to Fresno,Ca. I have just begun this research effort and am not sure how to proceed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

2010-07-12 -  Peggy Brase Limi.  My grandparents came to u.s. in early 1900's and settled in Fresno, Ca. area. My grandfather was Gottlieb Brase and my grandmother was Sophie Brase. I do not know my grandmothers maiden name. I see a Gottlieb Brase listed in the 1798 census, so i assume that he was a great, great, great great grandparent? I appreciate any info out there. Nice to find this sight.

2008-12-24 - Anita Wagner.  MY great-grandmother was Maria Margretha Axt and my grandmother was Anna Margretha (often called Anna Katrinka), born in Jost, Russia in 1886.  She came to Sterling, Colorado, via Winnepeg, Canada in 1903.

2007-02-01 - Sonia Salwasser.  I have been trying to find out info for my father-in-law, and find myself falling more into what more I can find. If anyone has anything on David Reichert and his wife Elisabeth (Haupt) Reichert (children were Maria Margretha, Adam, Edward, Leona) only Maria Margretha was born in Russia in Stahl am Tarlyk (1899). All other children were born in CA.

2007-12-29 - Heinrich Meisner .  Hallo. My Name is Heinrich Meisner. My father, Heinrich Meisner was born 1940 in Jost. My Grandfather Gottlieb Meisner was born 1915 in Jost. My Great-Grandfather Gottlieb Meisner was born ? in Jost. Most descendants of the village Jost now live in Germany. Many family names (Axt,.Fuchs, Haupt, Lampel, Meisner, Schledowitz, Egof and many others) on this site are well-known me, and most live in Germany near Hamburg.  Give my regards to descendants of the people of Jost.

His son Emanuel Dermer was married to Marie "Mary" Axt whose parents Carl Axt and Marie Meisner were both born in 1876 in Jost.

2007-12-06 - Linda G Hutson.  I'm looking for my ancestors. Believe it or not, the man in the picture on this web page (far left) looks a lot like my grandfather Adolph Just who was the first one in his family born in America in 1900 in Williamson Co, Texas. His father and grandfather were both named Karl Just. Your web site is wonderful...I'm glad you shared it with the web. My best to you all.

2007-12-03 - Eduard Egov.  My grandfather Daniel Ehof was born in Jost. I have information about my ancestors from my grandfather's sister who lives in Germany. There are some other Jost ancestral names in my family tree - Axt, Breze, Haupt, Schledevitz, Wenig. You are doing a great job. Thank you.

2007-05-22 - Randy Mueller.  Nice website.

2007-05-21 - Donald Halm.  Gottlieb Stier, was my maternal Grandfather.

2007-05-21 - Shirley Badger .  Peter Meisner, my husband's birth-father, was born in Yost. He is the son of Adam and Mary Meisner, who came to the USA in 1913, and ended up in Colorado. Mary Elizabeth Reinhardt Meisner brings us to a dead end, not knowing who her parents are; her father might be Rudolph Reinhardt and mother's last name might be Carringer or more apt to be Gerringer. We have Adam's parents on the Meisner side as Adam Meisner (abt 1835) and Margret Summers (abt 1836). We are interested in finding more information about the Yost area and those who resided there.

2007-05-19 - Dennis Zitterkopf.  well done! Good collection of data and information (this gives me some ideas for my own site!) thanks for the tour
