To fill the gap between the 1880 and 1900 U. S. Federal census we turn to the local newspapers. The local papers carried "gossip" columns which reported the comings and going of the local citizenry as they went about with their daily business.

Dr. James Julius Richardson & wife Dorothy Flynn Richardson

Dr. James Julius Richardson became a well-known expert in his field and was physician to at least 3 U.S. presidents. His wife was the daughter of the reknowned Dennis T. Flynn, territorial delegate for the Oklahoma Territory. This couple had a very interesting life.

Dr. Griffith was a small town Dr. in Sardis, Ohio. He and Alice raised three children in Sardis, but in 1915 moved to Columbus, Ohio. Alice became the first women post-mistress in Ohio.


Reuben T. Richardson & wife Elizabeth Nesbitt Richardson & children

R. T. was the brother of Joseph Richardson, and father of Dr. J. J. Richardson, and lived in New Martinsville, WV, and for many years ran a drug store on Main Street. His wife Elizabeth was from the very well-off Nesbitt family of Sardis, Ohio.

Samuel Suter & wife Ida Belle Richardson Suter & children

Ida was the youngest daughter of Joseph A. Richardson, and only surviving sibling of Theopolis Richardson. The Suter's lived in Sardis, Ohio and Sistersville, WV.


Ralph Lattin & wife Goldie Whitley Lattin

The Lattin family had staked their claim in Guthrie, Oklahoma during the land run. Ralph ran a soda shop in Guthrie, and later on a music store in Oklahoma City, Ok.


Julia, Louisa, Adah, Katherine Wiley

Julia, Louisa, Adah and Katherine were Mary Ellen Wiley Richardson's unmarried sisters. Their primary home was in Wheeling, but in their various professions moved around alot.
